Hospital tour question moms who already have kiddos..

You don't have to go do it again right???  I haven't set anything up cause I've been there before and I've been in L&D now which is the same wing as mother and baby a gazillion times so I'm pretty familiar with the darn place.  All I remember really doing anyways is filling out paperwork which I've already done and watching the don't shake your baby video.

Re: Hospital tour question moms who already have kiddos..

  • i'm pretty sure you don't have to go again but i kinda want to, does that make me sick? haha. i got so excited going on the tour and it made everything REAL plus i got all of the paperwork out of the way so it was nice. if you don't want to and already filled out the paperwork, don't do it :-)

  • We're going to a new hospital this time and hope to use their Alternative Birth Center, so it's required to do a tour if you want to give birth in the ABC.  Otherwise we wouldn't be doing another tour.  We only got the shaking baby video when we were in the hospital after having DS.  :)

  • I never had to do a tour or watch a video about not shaking the baby. I was robbed! I did paperwork in my OBs office and some when I was admitted, but that's about it.

This time around, I have a scheduled c-section. I have to go in the day before for bloodwork and paperwork but that's it.

  • With my first we got the shakey baby video in the hospital and I don't think I did a hospital tour then cause I lived in L&D and stuff I remember the night we had scheduled it I ended up in the hospital for dehydration and just never rescheduled. Then the second baby we switched to the hospital we currently use and I remember it was a private tour thing they kinda showed the rooms and stuff but I'm having a csection anyways so its not like I get to use the hot tub or anything lol.  I already have the paperwork filled out so I think I'm good.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't supposed to go again lol.
  • Nope, I didn't even have to pre-register as I had surgery earlier that year and they just added it in my record that I was coming back in a few months to have DS.

  • I chose to take the tour because it is my BF first baby and because I knew some of the rules/procedures had changed since I had my 5 year old.  It was fun and totally made it a little more real.

  • We didn't have to repeat anything, but we did take DS to "Big Brother" class and that included a tour.  Which actually was nice because they have remodeled since DS was born, so it was nice to see the bigger, better rooms.

My OB gave me paperwork for pre-registration, which I completed and then faxed in.

  • I never had to take a tour when pg with DS, now I am going to deliver at a new hospital and don't have to take a tour at this hospital either.

  • I went on the tour but only because I am delivering at a different hospital this time.  If I was delivering at the same hospital I wouldn't tour it again.

  • If I were delivering in the same hospital, then I wouldn't bother touring again.  But since I'm delivering in a different hospital this time - I am going to schedule one.
