Caffeine

Ok I know no more that 200mg a day is not good for you but really how much IS that I have about 1/2 a cup of coffee (I drink it from a tea cup so i feel like it's full lol) sometimes I want to have a cup of tea before bed, or a glass of coke, or something but I don't because I think "oh I had my coffee already" especially if I have a chocolate bar or something with my 1/2 cup a day. Am I being silly? Would it be ok to have 1/2 cup coffee, AND 1 cup tea or cola. What are you ladies doing?

  • First, that is the worst run on sentence ever.

    Second, usually about 1 or 2 cups per day are fine and equal about 200mg.  But remember a cup is only 8oz. 

    Personally, I don't stress about chocolate.

    I keep it to two beverages a day or less.

  • If you go to the starbucks website, they will tell you how much caffeine is in ALL their drinks, including a cup of just reg brewed coffee....... and they will tell you what size as well. I use that to kind of measure my caffeine intake for the day the best I can! If you know how many ounces your teacup is, that will help also!

  • Per my Dr. a coffee in the morning and a pop or something at night if perfectly fine. I think they just don't want you drinking caffeine excessively.

  • It really depends on the coffee but a cup of reg. is about 135mg, but I know a can of pepsi has 38mg of caffeine in it.

    I like my 1/2 caff coffee from foldgers. It has about 60mg of caffeine per cup.

    2. We are adults so we write like them. It makes it a lot easier to read!

    Yep.  I thought perhaps you'd overindulged in the caffeine before typing the question.

  • I have 2 pops per day. I know it's not healthy - but it's pretty much my only unhealthy habit :-). Before I knew I was pregnant I was a grad student and having about 7 servings of caffeine per day. I went down to 1 pop for first trimester, and then I slowly upped it back to 2. Sounds like you're doing well and I wouldn't worry about a splurge here and there. If you have extra in a day, just drink  a lot of water and then have less the next day.
