Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

any ladies from DC here?

DH and I are thinking about taking DS on a trip this next summer, and I'm thinking DC would be fun because my BFF lives in Baltimore. I assume there are a lot of kid friendly things to do there, but I'd like your highlights please Big Smile

or, I suppose DH and I could leave DS with our family here and travel with our friends alone...

Like...yeah...this!!!  There is the National Zoo in DC, but I'm not sure of any other places aside from museums.

Here in Baltimore, there is the Aquarium, the Science Center, and Port Discovery, all downtown.  Port Discovery is a kid museum.  We also have a zoo, the Maryland Zoo.

  • I would suggest the muesum of national history, the national zoo, and turtle park. They are all free and kid friendly. Each will take about 1/2 a day.

Also, as far as you and your dh I highly suggest CoCoSala if you can find a babysitter. Its an amazing chocolate inspired lounge.

Oh, and you (and the kids) could visit georgetown cupcake too!

  • DC is a good place to bring kids.  I read an article on NYT that says the Building Museum is a good place to bring toddlers but I haven't checked it out yet.  I recently brought DS to the Supreme Court but he just stayed in the stroller.  He liked playing the grass on the mall.

When I was a kid I loved the zoo & the capitol & going to the White House but I was in elementary school.

  • There's a bunch of things in the Baltimore area for kids.  In DC, I'm not really sure what would be good.  I don't even take G to DC but I think next summer we'll go to the zoo.

  • I grew up in the DC Metro area... and still live only about 40 min outside (with traffic).

    The National Zoo

    Nationals Stadium

    Air and Space Museum

    Natural History Museum

Spy Museum (depending on the age of your kids)

    Turtle Park (friendship park playground)

The Mall (they have a carasel by the smithsonian stop I believe)

Head to the National Harbor wich is outside DC by 295/495 there is a "beach" area where they moved "The Awakening" Kids run around there ALL THE TIME.

Here is a link, if you scrole down there is a family freebie section.
