  • The Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano.  We had Suzy come to our house to help with the twins then used the book only for #3.  It worked like a charm for all three.

  • we followed babywise with our first son and the twins... all 3 were STTN at 8 weeks... all 3 became great nappers, eaters, all around happy babies.  DH and I are HUGE fans of Babywise.

it gets a lot of backlash online basically b/c BW is against AP - and the AP community loves to bash BW online... even though nothing they say about it is true - and most who bash it have never read it.

I recommend reading a few (or learning the principals behind each one and picking the one you think fits your style the most) and then going at it the way you feel works for your family --- no one sleep training method is right for everyone or every child.

Babywise is about having a flexible routine- starting right away, really, with feedings every 3 hours - and after eating, playing, and THEN sleeping -- so babies don't rely on eating to fall asleep.  It helps you learn to notice your baby's cues that they are hungry, tired, etc.  Being in a routine like that also helps you learn these things easily b/c if they cry and it's about time for nap - then you know they are tired... if they cry when it's close to bottle time- you know they are hungry... It was rare that I had to second guess why my babies were crying.

  • I got Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins and then Happiest Baby on the Block.  I ended up liking Happiest Baby better.  We followed their strategies and our girls now sleep from 10pm to 5am, and then eat and go back down until 9am.  Plus they nap great during the day.
