This is a sign I should think about PTing, isn't it?

DS2 runs to the bathroom every time I change his diaper, saying, "Go potty...Go potty". Then he sits and usually pees or poops. It just seems so soon and I'm not sure I'M ready yet, even though DS1 was about the same age when he PT'd. DS2 just seems littler to me. And I'm lazier now. ;)

So, would you do it now? Any harm in waiting a bit longer?

  • Yeah... it sounds like you're in a nice window of opportunity to try (sorry!)  I might try it for a bit, and if it isn't an easy transition wait a few more months.  I'd hate to not *reward* his current interest/enthusiasm about using the toilet and body awareness...

yeah, it's a PITA, but maybe he'll be super-easy to train b/c he's already so clued in.  Just think of what you could buy with all that diaper money!!! Smile

  • Loading the player...
  • Go with it....so much easier in the long run & cheaper too.

  • Yep. I would go with it. Sorry! I know it's much easier with diapers but as pp says.. Think of what you could do with the diaper money! LOL!

  • Thats how my DS started.  I changed his diapers at roughly the same times each day and eventually the diapers were always dry and he'd only go potty when it was changing time.  But, my DS wasn't pooping on the potty yet at that point - that is fantastic!!!
  • I would try - doesn't mean you need to push it but it sounds like a good time to start offering for your child to use the potty.  Does he tell you when he needs to go all the time or just when you are changing his diaper?  I would make sure he knows to tell you when he has to go and then take him and see how it goes.  YOu don't have to push it - let him take the lead.

  • DD was younger than 2 when she did the same thing. It took no effort on my part at all.

He doesn't usually tell me whe he has to go. It's more just when I change him. He Ikea sitting on there though and almost always does something. He was constipated (TMI) a few weeks ago and insisted on only going on the toilet. He kept trying until he was able to do it.

My mom is watching them overnight this coming week and after that Ithink I will try staying in for a few days and trying. If it works, great, if not, no big deal either.
