people are annoying... carrying high question

so my due date is in a week, and of course everyone keeps asking if I'm ready to finally meet my baby. Once I answer them, they proceed to tell me that it's going to be weeks til I meet her cause I am "carrying so high up" still... does this really matter? or am I just being a crazy pregnant chick who wants to hit anyone that says it'll be weeks til I go into labor.............

Re: people are annoying... carrying high question

  • as if they know how everything looks inside you. Brush them off and don't worry about it. That "carrying high still" could actually be your stomach and a few other organs. Not the baby. The top of my belly is alot fuller later in the day then in the morning so I know that DD is not that high up.

  • Not every woman visibly drops. A friend of mine never dropped prior to LO coming, She was always quite high and delivered at 39 wks and some off days.

  • Obviously, the ultimate goal is for the baby to drop but I truly don't think the majority of people know what a full-term pregnant woman looks like.  I remember getting soooo many comments about how I was carrying, how big I was, etc.  DS eventually graced us with his presence and that was all that mattered!

  • DH's office manager was going on and on about how I hadn't dropped and it would still be awhile. We told her multiple times that yes, the baby 100% had dropped because I had a version  so he was no longer sideways, but it didn't matter to her. We eventually just smiled and said, "We'll see," or something like that and dropped it. Three days before that "you are still high" comment, a couple in the waiting room at the dr told me they could tell it was a boy because my bump was so low. I suggested (politely) to them that my bump was low because it was getting close to delivery time. So, two total opposite opinions from two people who have no credence on the topic. It is rather ridiculous that people think they know more about my body than I do--but there is nothing to be done about it but laugh and let it go.

  • I'm due Monday and I feel like I haven't dropped.  When I asked the OB yesterday if I did..he said, "just a little."  I was bummed.  I'm sorry to hear other people telling you when you are going into labor.  After my docs statement, he said that things change with babies all the time and they decide when their time will be.  Try and let it go in one ear and out the other but I also know that is hard to do too at times. Easier said that done..at least for me.GL!
