This is more of a whine than anything- We planned on waiting to TTC until March so that the EDD would be later in the school year, but now I'm starting to waver and think we should probably just take a BFP whenever we get one, since we could have great timing and STILL not conceive.
ARGH. I had thought it would be great to try and save MS for the summer when I'm off, but as these months tick by, my resolve is starting to waver. Anyone else in this boat?
Sorry for the whine- I'll be serving cheese later.
Re: Teachers and timing...
If timing and planning worked then I'd be KU right now and due in late March. As you can see, I'm still here.
I'll take a BFP no matter when it comes.
I'm a teacher as well. We started TTC in August hoping to get a BFP quick and then we would be due April/May. I would then take the rest of the year off and go back in September. Well, that didn't happen and here we are approaching cycle 5. There is never going to be perfect timing and MH and I have accepted that. This baby is going to come when it is ready and we will cross the bridge of how much time I am going to take off when we get there.
Amen.
Many of us would have kids already if things had worked the way we planned. For others, the stars align and everything happens exactly they wanted it to. Just keep it in mind. For some, it is worth it to wait if bad timing would be inconvenient for you. I am a teacher too, and I know that tenure and other political things can work against you. But personally, I want this baby yesterday.
GL whatever you decide.
ETA: typo
I also work in the schools an used to think I wanted to wait until my EDD would be at a certain point in the school year. My husband told me he thought that was silly and that we should just try and be happy no matter when it happens (or just be happy if it does!)
I'm totally happy that he convinced me because once I really thought about it, there isn't really a "bad" time when you are on the school calendar (I mean, an early Nov baby would give you 2 extra weeks for winter break, spring baby and you get a week off for spring break...) Some certain times would be nice because you would get extra time off with the baby, sure, but I decided not to care!
DH and I are both teachers. ?It would be nice to be able to pick the best time of year to have a baby and have it work out perfectly. ?Unfortunately it just doesn't work out that way.
We'll take whatever we can get and worry about the rest later on.

Hey, me too! To all of the above.
This.
I feel victim to the whole "teachers and timing pregnancies around school" notion too...
I had this great idea that I would start TTC in July and probably get pregnant in August which would work out perfectly with school and summer break. Yeah, silly me. Now I just want a BFP ... and do not care which month it comes in!
Yep, same here.
Together since 5/08 ~ Married 6/19/10 ~ TTC #1 since 8/10
BFP#1 3/26/11 ~ EDD 12/2/11 ~ Ectopic Twins left tube 7w3d
BFP#2 11/2/11 ~ EDD 7/14/12 ~ Robert Edgar born 7/18/12

This, exactly!
"Even miracles take a little time"
This, almost exactly. Another teacher and I even had our curriculum map re-drawn to accomodate May maternity leave (something totally do-able with our course). This works awesome for her, she was lucky enough to get KU in Sept as we "planned" As for me, I'm just hoping that by May I'm actually pregnant, the only "parents opinion" that I care about anymore is my own.
