Can I run to the grocery store real quick and leave my baby alone? It would only be for a few minutes and I will set up the boppy and bottle so that she can feed herself if she gets hungry while I am gone.

We're on a tight budget, do you think that diapers are really a necessity? I was thinking that we could just carry the baby around naked and let it do it's business whenever. Do you think it would work with Minnesota weather?

I'm not an expert, but if you carry the monitor with you, you should be fine! Or leave a cell phone in the crib with her. That way she can call you while you're at the store

I have an extra kennel I plan on using in these occasions. I mean if you line the bottom with blankets there's really no way they can harm themselves. It will be much easier when she can't roll on her own yet. I know she'll be in the same place I leave her.

Female dogs have maternal instincts and qualify as daycare, correct?
Emmy hold Eddy down once a day and cleans him. I'm thinking our baby tub is a waste of space. If she can find a way to carry the baby without leaving tooth marks my job is basically done until my kid needs a BFF.

My 7 year old likes to play with her babies so that counts as practice, right? She should be old enough to take care of a newborn by now. I can get some sleep and she can take the night shift.
will this baby sleep more than an hour at a time sometime in the first four months?
Scratch that, if you say no, I might cry.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut

We have two dogs and two cats, all female. Our plan is to have them take shifts, so that they each get to rest and we get to save on daycare costs. We figure it is a win win for all involved.
So I'm reading these and chuckling and my husband wanted to know what was so funny. His response to these posts "You know someone will read those and think that they are real suggestions." HA!

Re: I've never had a baby but I know a few. Ask me anything.
Can I use a Johnny Jumper and just leave the baby suspended in water from the waist down so I don't have to change diapers?

You're welcome.
This could totally work. I saw it on the documentary Babies, some of those kids just peed everywhere. Mongolia has similar weather to MN right?
My cat is really good with DS. They get along very well, and I would totally trust the cat to watch both of my kids.

Is 2 weeks old an appropriate time to sleep train? I need to get my baby on a schedule...FAST!

Wow, apparently I am so passionate about my cat watching my kids that I had to post it 3 times. Stupid Bump.
Only if you're going back to work. Otherwise you can sleep all day anyway. I mean that's what SAHMs do right?
I've watched MH build tons of computers so I'm a pro at it by now.

Infant's Benadryll. It's a thing.

The really sad part is that he is right.
To make clean-up easier, can I just dress my baby in a rubber suit and hose him/her down when they get dirty?
Also, my dog is a male... do only female dogs qualify as childcare?
WOW!!!!
I feel so enlightened. I knew there had to be a world where my baby wasn't confined to diapers.
To the PP, yes, Minnesota weather = Mongolian weather because they both start with M's. Pretty much the same place actually.
