Got a steam mop for Christmas! sqqquueeeeee!!! Mom cleaned the kitchen floor tonight, it wasn't bad, pretty average, we do it about 2-3 times a week with the swiffer. Nothing horrendous spilled, just every day kitchen floors.
So the bottom pad is what the swiffer picked up AFTER vacuming and the top is the steam mop pad that picked up everything else left behind.
whoa! I know I sound like a total dorky infomercial but its so exciting! I pink puffy heart my new steam mop!!!!
It'll be so nice with a crawling baby!

Re: NBR:dude!! Get a steam mop!!! PIP
Please inform me of the kind of steam mop you have?
I do think that is pretty amazing!
I have a Shark. I think its the basic model. It's not the super fancy one, but it sure does work!
Don't make me drool.
I totally hinted to DH that I wanted a steam mop of ANY sort for Christmas. I didn't get one, but maybe I can sell him into one with knowing that his house will be more sanitary for his children with a steam mom and not one that sprays chemicals that we'd a.) have to hide from the littles so they don't swallow it, and b.) pay for refills. We have tap water, that's all you need!
The Bissel steam mop makes me DROOL, but I'd take anything!
yeah I'm excited about not paying for refill pads and refill bottles! That gets expensive!
Oh I haven't seen the bissel..best not to look or I'll want to upgrade so soon!
Yes, that is the one I want! https://www.bissell.com/steam-mop-deluxe/
I wanted one for christmas, but didn't get it! bboo
I have this, I can confirm that it's absolutely fabulous. I LOVE cleaning my floors. And knowing that they're actually sanitized makes it that much more awesome. I will say one thing though about steam mops - always make sure you don't leave it sitting upright on the floor while it cools down. I have some white spots on my kitchen linoleum from doing that. Also you're supposed to use distilled water in them so the filter doesn't get clogged. I have a dehumidifier in my moldy wet basement, so I usually just use water from the tank for my mop.
Worth every penny!
I put a steam mop on my Target baby registry. If we don't get it at the shower, I'm totally buying one anyway. I think it's a need once you have a baby crawling around, fo sho.
Over the weekend, I bought a Bionaire hand-held steamer from Macy's with all sorts of attachments and I've been cleaning our house with it like a crazy lady!
I have had both the Shark and the Bissell. I liked the Shark much better than the Bissell. The one thing I did not like about the Bissell was is left little pools of water on the floors. Maybe they have improved it since I bought it (about 5 yrs ago). I did like the Shark, but I used it so much with my home daycare I broke it right where the handle "pumps" the steam.
The one thing I have read is that you do not want to use a steam mop on real hardwood floors. I have a 110 yr old house with the original floors and I am scared to use one on it.
