I got my hair cut the other day, and the first words out of my stylist's mouth were "was it planned??" I kind of don't care about that coming from him, because I go to him all the time and he's prob in his late 30s and nice and funny, but still... I don't understand what possesses people to ask that!
I guess the redeeming moment came later in the conversation where for some bizarre reason the topic of circumcision came up and he kept repeatedly saying that we should, and then he suddenly got very uncomfortable and said "well... I am apparently!" So I guess overall, it was worth it, haha!
Re: "Was it planned??"
I have gotten that a few times and i answer them honestly! NO! Most people knew we were done. My dd is 4 and people would always ask when we were having another.... I always said that we were done. We were, we were happy with our decision... but we had an oopsie.
The question that really annoys me is "Are you happy?" what kind of question is that? I answer that one honestly too... at first I would say that it was a good thing it takes 9 months, maybe I will be more excited by then. Then after about 3 months... my answer changed to "yes, it took some getting used to and getting over the shock, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
Haha, mine was planned too but now that you mention that, maybe he was asking for his own birth control purposes with his girlfriend!
I ABHOR this question. What the hell business is it of yours whether this pregnancy was planned or not? Yes, I'm only 23 and my husband and I have only been married for a year and a half. Yes, I'm about to pop out a kid in the middle of my last semester of law school. No, this was not my original plan. Yes, I am excited. None of these things are any of your business, so why do you ask me? Was it your plan to become a giant as$hat and ask awkward questions? Okay then.
I always just smile and say "plans change". Then I walk away.
