So I love the smell of the Rockin' Green detergent but I have had to strip my diapers a lot since I started using it (I had to bleach them once to finally get the skunk smell away). Since I had to bleach them - it seems like every other wash I need to strip them to get the skunk smell away - vinegar didn't work, so I had to use baking soda. I even tried the hard rock one - since we have hard water. We were having this issue with our other detergent (J.R. Watkins - it was what they had a Target at the time) - but as soon as we switched to an open pail, it seemed to go away. I thought it was irritating Bryce - so I wanted to try out the Rockin' Green since I had heard so many great things about it. We switched to cloth wipes - and the irritation has gotten better - however, I don't like having to wash our diapers 2 or 3 times to have to use them again. I rinse, then do a warm/warm cycle with an extra rinse at the end. Should I switch detergents again? Add baking soda each time? Add another rinse? Has anyone had this happen before? Thanks!

Re: Issue with detergent?
It is a cold rinse. Our washer is a front loader and only a year old - but it only has an option for a cold rinse (on the rinse/spin cycle I do first). I will have to try eliminating that - thanks :-). Maybe I will try doing a hot wash too. Our only options are cold/cold, warm/warm, or hot/cold (the temps of the wash/then rinse). I never thought of that. If not - I will have to check out the facebook pages. Thanks!
Definitely try the hot wash. When you strip, your supposed to use the hottest water that you can get. I would assume that the warm just isn't cutting it.
PP already gave you great advice, and I would align with what they said. I skip the rinse and go straight to the hot/cold cycle with detergent then do an extra rinse at the end. If I do a pre-rinse (the diapers have sat a little longer than normal) then I do a warm rinse to start.
If that doesn't help, then I would look into the amount of detergent you are using. Too much or too little can cause stink issues. Personally I have found adding other things like vinegar to the wash routine always makes stink worse. The more simple I keep things the better my diapers come out.
