Feeling contractions in lower abdomen?

So, about 10:15 this morning, I had the worst contraction I have ever felt. Ever since I have been having frequent cramping in my lower abdomen, like horrible, horrible period cramps. I called the doctor and they did an NST. I continued to feel the cramps, but they didn't register on the machine. The machine picked up my breathing, but hardly any contractions. The doctor checked my and I am not dilated at all, but he told me to go to L&D if they continue. They have continued and are about 20 minutes apart. Has anyone else had cramping? Am I feeling contractions that just aren't registering on the NST? I know you aren't doctors, but I'm curious as to whether this has happened to anyone else.

  • Could it be ligament pain?  From what I know, you can have contractions that you DON'T feel that will show up on the monitor, but not the other way around.  If what you are feeling are contractions, they would have shown up as such.

Sorry you are not feeling well!

  • Has the baby dropped all the way... it sounds really similar to when my DD decided it was time to shove her head as far south as she could. Hurt like crazy. I started having productive contractions not too long after that...They feel similar but I felt them higher up.

  • Sometimes when I got monitored the doo-dad didn't pick up on my contractions.  If you are still having them and OB told you to go in if they continued I would go back in.  Push on your stomach when you aren't having a cramp and then do it when you are.  If it's harder when you are cramping you are probably having a contraction.
