Two Under 2

lurker with a sleep question

We are currently trying for # 2.  My lo who is 13 months will start out sleeping in his crib, but by the middle of the night he is in our bed.  It is our fault, since we both work full time, it was/is just easier to bring him in bed with us than trying to get him back to sleep.

Anyway....my question is...Do any of you have a child that currently sleeps with you and how does that work with 2? We are not into letting him CIO so just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation.

Also, we rock him to sleep...anyone else do this?  and again how does it all work out with 2?

Thanks for your advice.

Re: lurker with a sleep question

  • We don't have our kids sleep in our bed, but we did rock them to sleep when they were younger, and I do remember how hard it was if one of the older ones needed something when I was rocking the baby to sleep, even for a nap, they would call for me and wake the baby and we would have to start all over again.

  • DS1 is a terrible sleeper but getting better.  He was a reflux baby so we had to hold him upright after feedings and he got very used to falling asleep on us.  He just learned drowsy but awake for naps about 3 months ago (which has been great!)  We still rock him before bedtime, I didn't want to change his routine too much while also introducing a new baby.  We finally dropped his bedtime bottle and our next step is to start drowsy but awake at bedtime and nighttime wakings.  DS2 is an excellent sleeper.  He's a reflux baby as well but doesn't spit up as much.  FWIW, we don't do CIO either w/ DS except for maybe one or two nights where he just kept waking after putting him back in the crib and we were watching the sun come up, and still feeding the baby every 2-3 hours, GL to you!
