Pregnant after IF

Not so good U/S... Now we wait...

It's like this waiting game never ends with IF! Today I had an u/s just a regular follow up. Turns out Baby B isn't developing well. They told me that Baby A is draining the nutrients from Baby B (common with identicals). They also told me that Both babies weigh in normal, heart rate is normal, and fluid is normal. Baby B however is developing slower, his bladder isn't fully developed the way it should be. So now I have to go in 1 x a week for an u/s. So we wait and hope that nothing is wrong with Baby B. MH isn't very concerned so I am trying to stay calm. Baby B has always been smaller and developed slower than Baby A. I just hope that's all it is... I took the rest of the week off to get some rest.

Edit: They are BOYS.

  • oh gosh mari, I'm really glad that they found this as early as they did and that they'll monitor you so closely. I am with your husband, don't worry yet. They are growing, but at nowhere near the rate that they'll grow once you get into the late-20's so there's a lot of time for them to even out.

Plus with the early capture they'll be able to give you supplements, if needed, to help the boys stay on a level playing field. Big (((HUGS)))

Thanks, I'm trying to not freak out. Google is so not my friend either, all the procedures sound scary. The operation to close off the blood vessels they share scare the shiet out of me... Plus it comes with many complications. I just hope he catches up on his own...

totally step away from Google. He is not your friend right now. Just tell yourself you will stay calm (better for the bambinos) and you will do what the doctors recommend. That's all you can do! Have faith things will be okay.

We type-a chicas tend to overthink things and get ourselves all worked up. At 18 weeks they found several choriod plexus cysts in my son's scans. Really they were there at week 12 and the doctors monitored them for several weeks without telling us. I stupidly told my mom about them, even though I promised myself I wouldn't get upset. So of course she googled and researched and tried to convince me that he would have Trisomy 18, blah blah. But I fought the urge to join her in the worry and the googling (which was so hard for me b/c I'm *SO* OCD it's painful!) And guess what? It went away on its own by week 24.

Babies grow and develop and do all sorts of things that scare the shiit out of us. But most of the time it works out *just right*. xoxo

Wow so glad your baby is doing better. I am trying not to google, but I couldn't help it. I did it at week 12 so I know what all this means. I just needed a refresher. I am confident that I will bring both babies home... I will deal with things as they come just like I did IF! Thank you for your help.
