Vibrating Infant Seat or Infant Bouncer...?

I'm so confused.. I thought I registered for a vibrating infant chair, but I accidentally registered for this automatic bouncer. We have the bouncer (link below), but should I take it back and exchange it for a vibrating chair? It seems like a really nice product but don't babies like vibrations better?

this is what I have...

Should I get something like this instead?

Re: Vibrating Infant Seat or Infant Bouncer...?

  • Sad Someone help me out here.. I'm a first timer and don't know what I'm missing out on without a vibrating chair.

My baby tends to like the movement better then just the vibrating. Her swing has a vibrating option, but I can never just put that on, I have to have the swing going and the vibrating going or just the swing going and it's the same with her automatic bouncer.

  • We used both. We liked the swing and sometimes if she was fussy the swinging motion was enough to lull her off to sleep.  Then the boucy seat was wonderful because I could take it with me to different rooms.  So when I wanted a bath or a shower she could sit it in vibrating on the floor and be happy as can be.  I would say if you can afford it, then by all means have both.
  • I know that in our house, DD wouldn't do so great with just movement, she really liked the vibrate on her swing and the pack and play so when our swing died, it was vital to find a better one that still have vibrate options. Easier said that done but we went with the Sweet Peace because it had it.

As I understand though, obviously every baby is totally different and what works for one won't work for another.  So I would say, try the one you have with LO and if they like, awesome, if they don't, give the vibrate a try.  It's hard to predict what they'll respond to but both look super cute!

  • What your baby prefers will only be evident once baby is here. There isn't an automatic answer. Personally, we're going with the path of least electricity, LOL! Holding & swaying= no gear so that is our first choice. A bouncer that baby has to wiggle on his own is our second choice. I think a swing would probably be our third choice as that rocking/swaying motion is most womb-like.
  • Thank you for the advice! I'll try the bouncer first, and if she seems to respond more to the vibrations in her bassinet, I'll trade the bouncer out for the vibrating chair. I appreciate your help!
  • We have the one that bounces itself and DS LOVED it as a newborn.  He slept in it many nights and the bouncing lulled him to sleep.  But like others said, you won't know what YOUR baby likes until s/he gets here :)
