I have 4 dogs...yes. I know. Excessive. But, I love them like my children. Charlie, our oldest, is getting older and has (like twice a month) peed on the bed while we were sleeping (he as obviously done it in his sleep b/c it was a ring). I have a hyper-active min-pin chihuahua mix and he has been more active than ever lately b/c it's been rainy and snowy so he hasn't been able to go outside and run around. DH does not take them out as much as he likes to think so. So, my littliest one had an accident in his kennel this morning, Charlie peed the bed this morning, and DH is so mad he has left them in their kennels while I'm at work (he's at home), and has devised a plan for them to stay either in their kennels or outside!!! He let them out the back (where it's muddy) so I couldn't bring them inside when he goes to work tonight (unless I bathe all 4 of them...which is IMPOSSIBLE to do alone). He said he's moving their food downstairs and their water bowls too. I can't sleep without my babies with me!!! He refuses to listen to me and knows i'm upset with him. I think he's just taking this out on them b/c lately we've had everything break in our house lately (dishwasher, sink, washer...). I don't know what to do...But I'm very mad at him right now. Sorry this is so long... Just needed to vent

Sounds like Charlie needs a trip to the vet to make sure there are no underlying problems. Have you considered doggie daycamp for the min-pin...heck, for all of them to burn off some of that energy?
Oh, and DH would be sleeping downstairs too!

We crate our dogs at night, its the best thing we ever did with them. They have their own little "home" to go into at night. What you might do is get night time crates with snuggly blankies, and put those in your room.
Good luck! I hope your DH stops being a jerk
He does have his own bed (Santa brought one for him this year
) We just need to get him to sleep on it all the time.

I haven't! But now I have!!! Do you have any experience with them?? I'm afraid he may chew it off during the night. But, I don't think it would be bad to at least try!!

Yes mam. We have 2 big dogs and 2 small dogs (although I'm hoping the weiner dog is temporary!!). DH and I are on seperate schedules so I feel safer having the dogs in the room with me.

We took him to the vet a while back about it, and they thought maybe it was b/c we waited so long to neuter him (he's 6 and a Boxer so he's getting on up there in age for a Boxer). He went a long time without it happening and then all the sudden it started up again.

No personal experience to share on the diapers, just anecdotes from people who have had to go this route. No one ever mentioned their dog chewing at it, but I can see how that would be a valid concern.
Our dog who had the accident in the bed is a small dog (pug/chihuahua mix). Little bladder = can't hold it very long. So we have been extra vigilant about taking the water up an hour before bed (I know, I know, I'm a horrible person) and also making sure he gets a potty break right before bed. I'd say anything is worth a try at this point for you though!
Yeah, we usually don't refill their bowls about an hour before bed, and I take them out right before bed. DH seems to think they don't completely empty themselves b/c it's cold out and their spoiled (sometimes I don't think he see's them as animals). I'm going to go to the store on the way home and see if they have doggy diapers.. I'm thinking about either investing in that thingy you plug in and it makes your dogs stop barking, or the plug in that releases a scent that makes the dogs think of their mother and calms them...lol. I'll try ANYTHING!

Lately it hasn't gotten above freezing here, and downstairs is our concrete basement. We keep them in their kennels when we're not home, but he's wanting to keep them in their kennels when we're home, away, or they can go outside. I just don't agree.
