Trying to Get Pregnant

DH is the biggest B-hole ever!

I have 4 dogs...yes. I know. Excessive. But, I love them like my children. Charlie, our oldest, is getting older and has (like twice a month) peed on the bed while we were sleeping (he as obviously done it in his sleep b/c it was a ring). I have a hyper-active min-pin chihuahua mix and he has been more active than ever lately b/c it's been rainy and snowy so he hasn't been able to go outside and run around. DH does not take them out as much as he likes to think so. So, my littliest one had an accident in his kennel this morning, Charlie peed the bed this morning, and DH is so mad he has left them in their kennels while I'm at work (he's at home), and has devised a plan for them to stay either in their kennels or outside!!! He let them out the back (where it's muddy) so I couldn't bring them inside when he goes to work tonight (unless I bathe all 4 of them...which is IMPOSSIBLE to do alone). He said he's moving their food downstairs and their water bowls too. I can't sleep without my babies with me!!! He refuses to listen to me and knows i'm upset with him. I think he's just taking this out on them b/c lately we've had everything break in our house lately (dishwasher, sink, washer...). I don't know what to do...But I'm very mad at him right now. Sorry this is so long... Just needed to vent

  • I would move his a@@ out. I have 3 dogs and I would NEVER lock them outside. My min pin and hound puppy both get kenneled at night. Maybe it's time to gate the older dog out of the room. Get him his own new bed. Good luck.

  • Ugh, so sorry! We have 3 cats and 2 dogs. 1 of the dogs peed in the bed a few weeks back and 1 of the cats has been on anxiety meds since the end of the summer to control his "outside the litter box" habits. Definitely not an easy/fun thing to have to deal with, and I know I get stressed with DH when they misbehave. Hopefully after a little bit of time passes, your husband will calm down and things can get back to normal. Just curious, but have you thought about putting a doggy diaper on the older one while he sleeps? I know it sounds silly, but if he can't control it, the diaper might at least help save your bed. Hope things get better!

  • So do all 4 dogs sleep in the bed with you two?  No offense, but if that's the case, I'd be pretty pissed if I were DH too.  But, there is no excuse to try to keep them in their kennel all day and night, that's just mean, especially if someone is home.

Oh, and DH would be sleeping downstairs too!

  • I'm sorry Doozer. That really stinks and I know what you mean about not being able to sleep without your babies. I have two cats and they seem to have more a mind of their own, but they tend to sleep with DH and I and when they aren't there I go and get them. There is just something so comforting about having them sleep with you. Hopefully, you are able to come to some kind of compromise. Hugs to you and your furbabies.

  • We crate our dogs at night, its the best thing we ever did with them. They have their own little "home" to go into at night. What you might do is get night time crates with snuggly blankies, and put those in your room.

Good luck! I hope your DH stops being a jerk

He does have his own bed (Santa brought one for him this year ;)) We just need to get him to sleep on it all the time.

I haven't! But now I have!!! Do you have any experience with them?? I'm afraid he may chew it off during the night. But, I don't think it would be bad to at least try!!

Yes mam. We have 2 big dogs and 2 small dogs (although I'm hoping the weiner dog is temporary!!). DH and I are on seperate schedules so I feel safer having the dogs in the room with me.

We took him to the vet a while back about it, and they thought maybe it was b/c we waited so long to neuter him (he's 6 and a Boxer so he's getting on up there in age for a Boxer). He went a long time without it happening and then all the sudden it started up again.

No personal experience to share on the diapers, just anecdotes from people who have had to go this route. No one ever mentioned their dog chewing at it, but I can see how that would be a valid concern.

Our dog who had the accident in the bed is a small dog (pug/chihuahua mix). Little bladder = can't hold it very long. So we have been extra vigilant about taking the water up an hour before bed (I know, I know, I'm a horrible person) and also making sure he gets a potty break right before bed. I'd say anything is worth a try at this point for you though!

  • If my dog, or child for that matter, continued to pee in my bed while I was sleeping and MH insisted on sleeping with said other mammal they would be sleeping in the guest room and dealing with the clean up on their own. As long as YH isn't mistreating the dogs, you cant possibly expect him to do everything with them exactly as you do. He probably won't feed your kids on the same schedule and exactly what you want them to eat, or put clothes on them you would. I think this is something you're gonna have to figure out how to deal with. I don't know how cold it is where you are so I am not sure if leaving them outside is an option, but I don't see a problem with leaving dogs in their crate all day. All the dogs I have had spend most of the day in their kennel even though the door is open and they could roam around, unless someone is actively engaging them. By downstairs do you mean the main floor of the house because their food is in your bedroom?

Yeah, we usually don't refill their bowls about an hour before bed, and I take them out right before bed. DH seems to think they don't completely empty themselves b/c it's cold out and their spoiled (sometimes I don't think he see's them as animals). I'm going to go to the store on the way home and see if they have doggy diapers.. I'm thinking about either investing in that thingy you plug in and it makes your dogs stop barking, or the plug in that releases a scent that makes the dogs think of their mother and calms them...lol. I'll try ANYTHING!

  • It's funny that you bring up a doggy/DH issue.  I have one myself.  My DH or as I like to call him right now a f'ing a'hole, has always disliked dogs.  No real reason, just that they sh!t all over the lawn.  He refers to them as sh!t drizzlers.  Well we just bought another house with lots and lots of land and I thought he might let me get a dog.  I've always wanted one of my own instead of living through others doggies.  So I asked him tonight to just think about it.  I told him it would also benefit us.  DD and I spend the majority of days at home and having a dog could warn me of someone approaching the house, ya know?!  The next thing I know he's saying the F word left and right saying I can do what I want f this f that "Get 6 for all I care."  You would of thought I told him I was cheating on him.  WOW!  What a total baby.  So I guess that's that.  He said you have your baby to take care of and now you want a dog? Ugh, men sure love to stick their heads up their butts sometimes don't they!

Lately it hasn't gotten above freezing here, and downstairs is our concrete basement. We keep them in their kennels when we're not home, but he's wanting to keep them in their kennels when we're home, away, or they can go outside. I just don't agree.

  • oh sucky!! I would put DH in the "doghouse" haha pun intended. I guess I got lucky in that DH didn't want our dog and literally was against it the whole time going to pick him up but now that we have him he's our baby and DH loves him as his own child- it's quite sick actually he's more spoiled than I am ;)
