hey ladies, we have wood floors in our living room and the girls have started spending alot of time on entertainers on the floor. what do you put on your floors that can also be for them to crawl and play on eventually
We had/have a rug in our living room, and would lay down a blanket or activity mat for them to lay and play on before they were mobile enough to crawl off. After that I didn't worry about it. Once they're mobile there's not much you can do about it, except either carpet your house or put playmats from wall to wall. The wood floors have never seemed to bother them, and even though they fell quite a few times, they were never seriously hurt, just a bruise here and there.
We used foam mats on part of our floor. The ones from Sam's Club are great--they are large squares so they don't move/come apart like the Skip Hop or letter ones. Not to mention they are cheap--we had a huge play area enclosed by two Superyards and it just took two Sam's sets which would be a total of about $40.

1/2 of our livingroom (the play area) has play mats on them - and thank God it does b/c those kids are ROUGH over there - there are so many times they fall down that I think they are hurt- but the mats save the day!
we got ones on ebay that look like a straw mat - so they aren't big, obnoxious primary colors or anything.... we love them.
