Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment, and after 2 hours of contractions last Wednesday and an hour and a half of painful ones Saturday night, I haven't dilated any more than I was at last week's appointment. This is frustrating to me, but the doctor said that she was pretty sure that "with the state of [my] cervix," he will come on his own. Just in case though, she scheduled us for another appointment on Monday (NST and AFI) and said if the fluids are low, they will induce right away. If they're good, we could be waiting for induction until that Thursday.
Well the office called me this morning (and woke me up... who calls an overdue pregnant woman before 9 AM!?!) and said that my induction is scheduled for Tuesday, January 4, at 8 AM! So I am going to have a little one within a week. I am so excited!!! My mom made the comment yesterday to my aunt that she thinks we have stopped expecting a baby, which is totally true... it feels like he's never coming, so it's exciting to know that he will be out, one way or another!
On to my tiny Christmas vent. On Christmas Eve, my mom called to tell me she had been talking to my grandma, and apparently my cousin and her 1-year-old had strept throat, but were still planning on attending my grandpa's Christmas Eve party. Now there will be 30 other people there, including other kids, and some old people. And a woman (me!) who was due to have a baby that day. So I guess my grandma said something to her, and my cousin texted me to see if I was going. I guess if I was staying home she would have still shown up? Then we found out that her son had a fever of 104 the day before. Why on earth would you want to take him anywhere, even if you're feeling OK (like she said they both were?) Sorry... I totally think that is irresponsible and stupid. Stay home with your kid. Get healthy. Don't make other people sick.
/end vent.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Happy New Year!
Re: An eviction date... and a tiny holiday vent.
Congrats on your eviction date!
I have an NST on Thursday and my LAST APPT next Monday to determine when I will be induced next week too. Her head is down, but my cervix is still thick & high
I don't know how some people are getting induced late this week - I begged my doc but she said they wouldn't induce close to a Holiday.... blah
I wish my doc would call me with an eviction date! This suspense is killing me!
And I agree with your vent. Unfortunately I had to miss my Niece's Bday party in November b/c some of my family had been really sick and were still getting over their sickness during her party, so my DH and I decided not go. But my whole immediate family had been sick together so they totally understood that we couldn't come.
First, yay for having an induction date sent! Boo, that it's almost 2 weeks past your due date, but I think that's typical. I feel very lucky that my OB is inducing me 3 days past EDD because she considers me favorable for induction.
Second, your cousin is crazy. If you're sick WITH a fever, definitely stay away from people. Especially around pregnant people and babies. What are people thinking?! My SIL just got the flu and I'm thankful she's got the right mind to stay home instead of coming to visit us as she had planned.
Congrats on your induction date! I'm starting to feel like you, too -- that I've stopped expecting a baby. Our induction is set for next Monday, January 3.
As for the crazy sitch with your cousin, WTF? Some people just don't get it. I can't imagine that child would be up for getting out of bed, never mind a party, and what about preserving everyone else's health? Sigh...
