3rd Trimester

I'm in hemorrhoid he!!

I've had them for a few weeks now, but they've always just been there. Annoying, but not painful. Just recently they have become so painful I can barely sit. I have a cream prescribed by my doc, and use Tucks pads. I know there's not much that can be done and hopefully they will go away after baby comes, but I just wanted to complain and hopefully be reassured that I'm not the only one in this horrible hemorrhoid he!! If anyone does have any suggestions, I'm open to trying just about anything right now! Thanks in advance!

Re: I'm in hemorrhoid he!!

  • I had one about 2 months ago. I couldn't take it. It was so irritating that I popped it (TMI, I know) but after the bleeding stopped it didn't come back. I have some days I am so constipated that I know I'll have another hemi before this baby comes. Ugh, they are so gross.

What?? I've never even heard of that before! How do you "pop" hemi's?

This!! I had no idea you could do that. Do tell. I have them and actually they never really went away after DS was born so I need something to be done after DD is born.

edit- forget that. I just googled it and I think I will just wait for my doctor to take care of them. They don't bother me at all so I'm good to go.- I guess literally.

  • Oh boy do I feel you sister!! I was actually put on bed rest for a hemorroid that was the size, no joke, of a gold ball. It was the most painful, freaky thing I have probably ever had happen to my body.

I had hemi's a few time that were just small and would go away after a few days. I kept hearing about people, most much older, getting surgery on their hemorroids and I was wondering " what they hell would you do to a hemi with surgery?"

Then I got mine and I realized they can be very serious. My OB said that if I wasn't pregnant, she would have rushed me over to surgery. I couldn't even close my legs!!!

And the most agonizing part is when you actually have to go poo! I made sure I ate fiber non stop, took a stool softener and used those "magic bullets" the OB gave me.

A cool wash cloths, loose clothing with lots of laying down, tucks pads and prep H, and the suppositories the doc should have given you . Those are the things that really helped me.

  • Wow I just made a post on this on 2nd tri, No advice just a know your pain!!!!! Good Luck
  • One of my uncles popped a hemorroid and from what I understand  ( WARNING: a lof of TMI coming here) his wife lanced it in several places with a sterile needle and it bled like crazy for almost 2 days. She was the one who told me about it and she waid that it was huge and almost purple cause it was filled with so much blood.

I guess it hurt so bad, my uncle took vicodin before and after the "procedure". Then he proceeded to "milk" it like many other men and layed on his back side demanding everyone help him cuase he was in too much pain.

It's just gross. I used a needle to release the pressure on it. I was in pain and figured it could get worse if I didn't do something. I was using tucks, prep H wipes, hot baths to help soak the skin and try to get some relief. Using a needle was my last resort. It helped and in a few days the hemi was shrunken down, I was able to keep it disinfected without the intense pain and the skin eventually healed.

ETA: I get the impression that using a needle was a no-no. Sorry if it's just so disgusting to read about but I couldn't take it anymore. It hurt to walk, sit, stand, and when you have to get to work...I was willing to try anything to get relief. I didn't want to go to my OB about it since getting in to see her takes weeks. I didn't want to wait that long so I did it myself.

  • I'm having problems with hemorrhoids as well. At 26 weeks I was in the washroom for about 2 hours trying to go. I was in a lot of pain & couldn't sit/walk/stand up. Finally I made my husband call 911. We went to the emergency room (hospital where I'm to have my baby at) and I was there for about 5 hours. They monitored my baby the entire time. I will not go into detail on how the doctors helped me (TMI!) but let's just say they manually got it all out for me. I was prescribed a stool softener & milk of magnesia. I was doing ok but now have noticed bright red blood in the toilet when I have a bowel movement. I am now prescribed suppositories. This really sucks but I'm relieved I'm not the only one going through this. Hemorrhoids are no laughing matter! Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods & stay hydrated! I hope this goes away after delivery.
