Infertility

Good Morning, Chicago Ladies!

I am currenly living in downtown Chicago. My husband and I are finally ready to start IVF.  Please recommend your RE.

Is anyone using the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago?  I don't know much about them, but whenever I google anything their website comes right up.

Re: Good Morning, Chicago Ladies!

  • Hope you don't mind that I respond.  I went to Advanced Fertility. I saw Dr. D.out of the Crystal Lake office but went to the Gurnee office for all my procedures.  I was very happy with them and the care they provided.

KThappy (she is usually on the Pregnant after IF board) also went there and I believe she had a great experience as well.

    GL!

  • MamaBear, thank you so much for responding!  I was dying to hear that others had good experience at Advanced Fertility.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!  It gives me so much hope, and at 34 there is very little hope left.

  • Advanced Fertility has a great reputation.  I wish I lived closer/worked closer to their facility.  Unfortunately I would not be able to handle work and monitoring appointments on the same day :(

I spent a year and a half at Northwestern and switched REs this past summer to Dr. Charles Miller in Naperville.  Dr. Miller is much more aggressive then my RE at Northwestern which I really like.  I am getting ready for my first IVF cycle with this doctor probably in a month or so.

  • Mrs.P, good luck to you this coming cycle!  Thanks for the suggestion.  I hope to meet with Miller and Advanced.

Your siggie states that you just had an FET this month and your posts states that you are getting ready for your first IVF cycle.  Does this mean that they let you start another IVF or FET cycle soon after your failed cycle?  I'm afraid that the first may not work, and I guess I'm hoping to hear that you don't have to wait too long to start another.

I did two IVF cycles at Northwestern and with my last IVF I had 2 frozen embryos.  That IVF cycle was in July.  I switched to Dr. Miller in August.  He had me do a lot of testing and an endometrial biopsy.  I then transferred my embryos to Dr. Miller and started the FET process in October.  So actually it took me about 3 months to get started, but only because he wanted to do testing first.  Which I am glad he did, because he found out that I have MTHFR.

I just found out last Monday that my FET didn't work.  I am meeting with him on January 9th to discuss our next steps, so it looks like we will probably have to sit out this month, which isn't too bad.  I also think he wants to talk with me first because this is technically my first IVF with him and he is very thorough and doesn't like to start something without talking to you in person first.

A friend of mine who went to him was surprised that I was doing a FET with him with my embryos from another doctor, because she swears that he has the magic protocol to get amazing eggs. I am hoping she is right and this next IVF cycle will bring us our BFP!

  • Hi there! I'm in Chitown as well. I'm going to FCI & my dr is Dr. Aaron Lifchez.  I can't make a recommendation either way at this point, as we are just starting our 1st IVF attempt.  Good luck at Advanced Fertility!!! :)
  • I am using IVF1, Dr. Randy Morris. I go to the Naperville office but they also have offices in Plainfield and downtown at 900 N Michigan. They do ER and ET at 900 North, and you can do monitoring at any one of their offices. We are starting our first IVF cycle with them now so no success story yet, but I feel really comfortable with him and with his recommendations for our treatment plan - not too conservative, not too aggressive. GL to you in your search!

  • We saw Dr. Kaplan at FCI. (We are going to a different clinic for our donor egg cycle, but for financial reasons, not any issues with FCI).  We were very happy with him even though we didn't ultimately have success. I know some women on this board are not fans of FCI because it is such a large practice, but we liked it.

  • I am at Advanced fertility in Gurnee.  We drive all the way from Milwaukee.

I've been there since August 2010.  It's okay.  Although Dr. Sherbahn doesn't have the most wonderful bedside manner.  DH and I leave there everytime saying, "Yep, he's still full of himself."

Seriously you could float his head down the streat for Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.

BUT-- if he gets us preggo fine with us.  They do have great rates.

Dr. Deutch in Crystal lake on the other had is the nicest guy ever.  Perhaps you live closer to there.  He just completed my lap surgery for my last week.

Agree!  I think part of the reason Dr. D. is so caring is because he's peronally dealt with IF.  He has twins from IVF.

  • Mrs. Rumpf: Thanks for sharing your experience at Advanced.  I have an appointment on January 4th, I'm so excited.  Thanks again!  Good luck to you!

Mamabear: I just noticed you are carrying twins, YAY!  How very exciting!  Many blessings to you during the wonderful journey of motherhood. Thanks for all of the advice, it's greatly appreciated.
