My NST was scheduled for yesterday but I couldn't get in because all the beds were full, even in the reserve wing. I called today and they're still completely full and said I could come in at 9 PM. This isn't a big deal for me since I'm very close the hospital and will def be up still.
I'm just nervous that the entire L&D ward has been full for two days. I've been having contractions for the last 24 hours. They're still not super close or getting into a real pattern but they're anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes apart most of the time and my back is killing me. What happens if they're full and I go into labor? Do I get sent to another hospital?
Re: Another vent, because I'm venty
You should ask about that while you're there getting your NST.
I dont' have a clue what they would do here...
Only hospital for HOURS.
I am delivering at a hospital that has a 32 bed labor and delivery unit. Then they also have a 14 bed unit for high risk patients that are there on bed rest. I delivered in ds in the high risk unit (at 34 weeks was there for two weeks prior) at 1130pm. They moved me at 3am to an over flow unit 3 floors above... it sucked! I had to share a room with another woman who had a baby.... my baby was in the NICU but she had her baby in the room with us. And it had an adjoining bathroom with the two women in the room next to us! I was given a box of antibacterial wipes and told to clean the toilet before and after I used the restroom. Needless to say, my baby was in the NICU and there was not room at our hospital for parents to stay at the hospital with the baby so at 1130pm (exactly 24 hours after he was born) I left against medical advice!
They are now building an edition on the hospital that will be done in November this year. It is a new birthing center and childrens hospital. Supposed to be state of the art... I am pissed I will miss it!
I am sure that they can discharge patients or move them around to fit the new arrivals in. I would ask what their plan is for this when you go in for your NST.
pomrom, I think we are delivering at the same hospital...
My thought is if it's an option...use it to your advantage...especially for a high risk mommy.
