2nd Trimester

Update from Drs. appt for contractions....

I had been having some BH...I thought it was really early...but whatever. . Pretty soon I was having actual contractions every 5min. They were so painful they took me to my knees. . I had contractions every 5 min for 1.5hrs. I finally called the Dr. Off to L&D we went. Contractions showed up on the monitor and I was checked. No dilation but my cervix was soft. So after fluids for 2 hrs and rest they started to slow down. They sent me home with orders for an U/S first thing in the morning to check baby & cervix length.

Update: . My cervix is 3.5 (nurse said normal is 4 to 5) also my placenta is laying over my cervix and I'm beginning to dilate on the inside. I go back next week to check again.oh and modified bed rest till next appt....ugh

Update:

Went to Dr. appt today.  Dr was concerned since Im STILL having contractions. My cervix is still holding at 3.4 and seems to be doing ok.  He referred me to a high risk Dr.  I go back for another u/s next week and to talk to HR dr. about meds to stop contractions.  Overall a good appt. and hoping to keep Mason in for a good long time!

  • Stay put little man, you need to keep cooking! I hope you get some relief from the contrax soon, I can't imagine how scary it is to have them this early on. I am glad your cervix is still holding strong though.

(Wow, of all the things I never thought I'd say...)

  • I went into preterm labor with my daughter (I was a few weeks further along than you, 30 weeks). Im sorry  you are going through this!  Bed rest sucks!! But on the bright side once they got me on the right medicine for me, contractions slowed to like 4 or 5 a day and I carried the baby until we had to induce labor.

However, pay a lot of attention to your baby's movement etc when they start you on your medicines, when they gave me Terbutaline my LO didnt respond well to it, she stopped moving and they had to monitor her for 48 hours, and once it cleared my system she was doing well again, but they were worried for a while, after that they put me on Procardia, which gave me crazy headaches for the first week, but it kept her in there cooking. But if somehting doesnt seem right have it checked out! Good luck!!

I had PTL with DS at 32wks....I was put on Terbutaline...UGH!  That stuff was horrible!  I had him at 36wks.

This time is very different.  We will talk meds next week ..but hopefully we can avoid meds all together!
