IVF question

I'm currently on BCP for IVF #1, with transfer date estimated of about 2/8. DH and I really need a vacation, and we were thinking of going somewhere in April. My question is, if we got a BFP from this cycle (fingers crossed), how long after that do you have to keep going back for things like b/w, u/s, anything else? Let me know if this is something I should post on S/PAIF instead. My IVF nurse is kinda obnoxious, so I feel silly asking her, like she'll just blow me off or tell me to not get ahead of myself....

    Mine would release me to my ob between 8 and 9 weeks if I were to become pregnant.

    It's not good if your IVF nurse is not someone you can talk to comfortably.  Maybe try to get another nurse?

    To answer your question - I had blood work once a week following my BFP and our first ultrasound was at 7 weeks.  So, things happen pretty quickly.  GL! 
    TTC since July 2009.
    MFI, Moving onto IVF-ICSI.
    IVF #1 = BFP - sadly a blighted ovum discovered at 7 wks.
    D+C 12/7/10.
    IVF#2 - ER 3/27. 8 fertilized. ET 4/1; transferred 2 blasts; 2 frosties (total of 3 now)
    Beta #1, 4/11 = 291! Beta#2, 4/18 = 2702. Beta #3, 4/25 = 17303.
    Ultrasound #1, 4/29 = 1 perfect baby and heartbeat!.
    7/21 = a/s! It's a boy!!
    Robert Lawrence was born on December 1st at 4:32 am weighing 6lb 3oz, 19.5 inches long and healthy as anything!!

    Yea i know, I've thought about asking for another one, but for right now she's fine-she's just not warm and fuzzy and stuff. If I have real questions she definitely will answer them, I just feel like this is something she'd blow me off about, you know? 

    Looks like with my calculations, we probably wouldn't be able to squeeze something in before Passover begins in April-but obviously I'd take a BFP over being able to go away :)

    I took a week long vacation at 5 weeks and it was no problem.  My RE likes to see patients 2x week (only 1 visit is blood work done) until 8 weeks and then 1x week until released.  But I haven't had any issue scheduling it around a trip.  I am sure that if needed, we would have done blood work right before leaving and then right away upon returning.  How long are you thinking for a vacation?

    Not at all, I like to see tickers, gives me hope that all this does have a happy ending at some point!

    We're looking at a cruise maybe, so like 7-8 days I think. DH wants to wait to book anything until we know the outcome, whereas I'd like to have something to look forward to, in case we don't get a BFP.

    MY RE does a beta 2 weeks after embryo transfer, then 48 hours later, 1st ultrasound 4 weeks after transfer and a 2nd u/s 6 wks after transfer...then you are released to your OB-gyn.

    Hopefully your 1st Ob-gyn would do visit #1 between 8-10 wks, then at 12 wks and then monthly visits.

    Cruises don't allow pregnant women on them after ~22 wks or so! So, go early!

    If you get a BFN, when would you cycle again?

Twin m/c @ 5.5 wks :( Dec/Jan 2011 IVF #2 Only 4 eggs retrieved-Ganirelix dose messed up BFFN Feb/March 2011 IVF #3 ER 3/9 9 eggs, 7 fertilized, ET 3/14, No frosties. BFN IVF #4 ER 8/22 9R,7F ET 8/25-3 embies, 1 frostie! Beta 9/2= 54, 9/6=274, 9/8=625, 9/12=2953, 9/16 greater than 10,000. B/G TWINS born April 2012 @ 36wks & 1 day! July 2014-going back for the frozen embryo! ET 7/28, heartbeat seen at 6wks1day with SCH. Miscarriage confirmed at 6wks4days
