Trying to Get Pregnant

Baby aspirin

One of my close friends told me to take baby aspirin, and I saw that some of you are trying that too.  What exactly is it supposed to help with and when in your cycle do you take it?  (My friend's doctor put her on it because of her multiple miscarriages.)

Re: Baby aspirin

  • I take it because of a blood disorder that can cause m/c.  Don't take it without talking to a doctor first.

  • My doctor just put me on it (one a day) because I've had two miscarriages. She said there are new blood clotting disorders coming up all the time that could affect TTC, and it could help.

  • Thank you for your response!  I'm not one to take anything without a doctor's orders or prescription, but I wasn't for sure!  TTC will make me do just about everything, but I'll hold back on this one!

Uh yeah a couple of things.  Do you always take meds cause your friend told you to?  Have you experienced the same things your friend did to warrent you taking a medication?

Biggest difference between you and your friend?  You weren't told by a DR to take it.  SHE was.

It is used for IVF purposes and to prevent miscarriage. If your friends doctor put her on baby aspirin because of multiple miscarriages, and you have not been advised by a doctor to take it, WHY WOULD YOU? My doctor has told me I need to take Vitamin D because I am Vitamin D deficient. If my friend decided to start taking Vitamin D as well just because I was, would that make sense to you? Taking any medication with out necessity, including anything OTC is not a good idea.

  • My doctor told me that baby aspirin thins your blood and I have a blood disorder that may require baby aspirin, but still my doctor won't tell me to take it unless we notice something in the next few months, so definitely do not take it unless advised by your doctor.

  • I would definitely check with Dr. to see if that's necessary for you- when you're TTC, especially during luteal phase, you're not supposed to take aspirin or ibuprofen, they recommend acetometaphin (tylenol) because thinning your blood can mess with implantation.
