Peeing during the night question....

Okimageay, so is anyone not getting up to go to the bathroom during the night?  I don't at all, and most of the time I don't have to pee when I get up in the morning. Before pregnancy I would be about to bust in the morning.  I probably should just be drinking more water.  Any thoughts?

Re: Peeing during the night question....

  • I haven't really had to and if I do, it's usually because I wake up first and then think, "hmm, I should pee" and not the other way around. But, I do always have to pee first thing when I wake up in the morning though.

How much water are you drinking a day? Looking at the color of your pee should be an indication, too.

  • I am sooo jealous! I wish I had your problem lol. On a "good night" I get up once or twice, on a "bad night" it can be anywhere from 3-4 times. Ughh. It's awful. I've noticed that certain things I drink before bed can affect how often I go to the bathroom. (ex. hot tea is a HUGE "no-no" b/c I'll get up so many times to pee). I'm sure you're fine and wouldn't worry. I got up once a night to pee before being pregnant too.

  • At the beginning of the pregnancy I was having to get up and go during the night, but I haven't had to do that since the beginning of 2nd tri.

When I wake up, first thing I do is go pee, but it's not a rushing to the bathroom type moment or anything.

  • That sounds dreamy to me!!!

But, for me, I tend to do A LOT of my water in the evening, so that is probably why I continue to be up 2-3 times a night.

I'm surprised you don't have to go when you do get up though! How much water are you drinking each day?

  • Count your blessings! I get up every night, usually only once but sometimes twice so I can pee. I also consider myself to be carrying this baby pretty low so I think something always is putting pressure on my bladder. I try to stop drinking before bed so I don't have to pee so much but it doesn't stop me from getting up. To be on the safe side, make sure your drinking plenty of water.

  • I wake up some nights but not every night.  I do have to pee when I first get up though.  The baby wakes up usually the same time I do, or a few minutes before my alarm is set so the kicking on the bladder usually makes it a dash to the bathroom.  Like PP said, check the color of your urine though.

  • I don't drink as much before bed as I do the rest of the day and I can usually make it through the night with only one trip to the bathroom, sometimes none at all. I'm a heavy sleeper though.

This!!!  I tend to get up more on nights that I have less time to sleep - lately 6 hrs is a lot, because of the holiday schedule at my work!!  So getting up 4 times in 6 hrs makes for a very grumpy mommy-to-be!!!!

  • I drink the vast majority of my water after 4 pm and so that keeps me getting up in the middle of the night.  We also have a very dry house and so when I do wake up my mouth is really dry so I drink a little more water each time.  If you drink most of your water earlier in the day you probably won't have to get up to pee as much.

  • As pp said, pay attention to the color of your pee. If you are peeing yellow or dark yellow, you need to up your water intake. If you are peeing clear, I wouldn't worry too much about not peeing in the middle of the night.

I have to pee every night before I go to bed, once or twice in the middle of the night and then again when I first wake up.

  • I have done so, but figured out it was because I was drinking too close to bed time, so I adjusted my schedule. I don't sleep as well if I wake up in the middle of the night.  I typically drink 80-100 ounces of water per day, plus other beverages.

Haha, I totally base my nights on good or bad depending on the quantity of restroom visits!
