If you have 2+ LO's what do you drive?

Right now we only have two but I think come summer we might try for # 3. what would fit 3 in car seats besides a mini van, we already have one. Thanks!

  • I have 3 and drive an Acura MDX.  We have a Marathon and 2 boosters across the middle seat. It seats 7.  I love it!

  • I have a Chevy Traverse, I got it when we started thinking about #2.  My neighbor had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and traded it in for a Traverse too since they are getting ready to have #3.  We both love it (and FWIW their 2nd car is a Caravan).

  • ALL 3 of my kids are in convertible carseats. My 5YO is not 40lbs so I won't put her in a booster. I drive a minivan.

You don't HAVE to drive a minivan with 3+ kids, but I can tell you that if your 3 are close in age and you'll be in convertible seats for a while, it is MUCH easier and more convenient to drive a minivan. The sliding doors, the fact that it's low to the ground, etc. make it very easy for all 3 of my kids to climb in and out.

  • DH and I each have a sedan.  Right now we have a base in each car for the baby's seat and we used to have a convertible seat in each car.  I always knew in the back of my head that the limit for the convertible was 40lbs.  My oldest has been just under that (around 37-39lbs each time I weigh him)  FOREVER but he keeps growing taller.  There must be a height limit too, but I never bothered to look it up...then when I tried to put him in it with his coat on this winter I could NOT get the straps all the way fastened, so I finally went to a booster with him, and we just share one for both our cars.

We COULD fit 3 seats of some sort in both our cars, but that would suck.  I like the small SUVs best.

  • We went ahead and got a Honda Pilot when we found out I was pg with DS.  Right now we have DD's convertible and DS's infant seat in the middle row.  For kicks I wanted to see if 2 convertible seats would fit with an infant seat in the middle row, and all 3 seats fit!  We are planning on TTC#3 when DS is 12 months old, so I'm really glad we have the big middle row and extra third row seating!

  • We are having our 4th child and I drive a 1999 Suburban.  I love it.  Well, except for the gas mileage.

  • I am about to buy the Mazda 5.  We take DH's Acura RDX on trips, so it is just for around town.  It holds 4 car seats.  The RDX can have 2 car seats and a booster, but not 3 car seats (it says it in the manual, so no puzzeling).   I have a volvo wagon, the smaller one, it only holds 2 car seats, not even 2 car seats and a booster.  I have Sunshine Radian seats.
