Convertible Car Seats

Hi there!

I'm getting ready to transition from the infant car seat, which do you ladies recommend? I've been reading a lot of reviews especially on the Britax. Would love to hear other MOMs and their experience!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Convertible Car Seats

  • We have the Britax Marathon (any Britax is a great one IMO) for DD and we love it-plan on getting 2 more for the babies!

  • We have the Britax Boulevard and love it :) Just make sure you have ROOM in your car because they are bulky car seats.  They get great ratings on consumer reports for safety so I'm sold!  Also, check perriodically Target.com will have them on sale for $50 off, that was the cheapest price I found on them.  They have them on sale pretty often.

  • We use Evenflo Triumph Advance seats, and they're awesome!  Not nearly as pricey as the Britax, if you need something more budget friendly.

  • Thank you ladies for your input and thank you so much for the target tip!! Getting everything of two is quite pricey! As far as room is concerned we eventually transitioned into a minivan so there is plenty of space!
  • I can't say enough good things about our Sunshine Kids Radians.  They'll be in those things forever because the height limit is so high, so I guess it's good that they have the 8 year expiration instead of the normal 5 years.  Plus they're narrow enough that I can fit 3 across the backseat of my Kia SUV if I need to, and I've had no problems fitting the two of them and a full size adult back there with everyone being comfortable.
  • We have a Safety 1st Complete Air 65 Convertible Car Seat and a Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite Convertible Car Seat. We love both of them. They are a little cheaper then the Britax and have good reviews. I know toys r us and baby r us is having a lot of car seats on sale and then you can use the twin discount.

  • I have the Britax Boulevard for the girls and I love them! I got a great deal on them at Albeebaby, so the price wasn't too bad.

  • Albee baby is having a big clearance + free shipping if you spend $100 (who isn't with twins?!)
  • This is a RP from another carseat post earlier, I hope you don't mind!

We just received our Britax Marathon 70's in the mail on Friday. I have to say that I LOVE them, even more than the previous models. I can't comment much on the buckle, since my girls are only 8.5 months old, but I don't find them any harder to do/undo than the Chicco carseats they were in before. We got ours from albeebaby.com for 25% off, so total cost was $420 for both! When you consider that they're $309 a piece at BRU, that is one heck of a bargain.

Also, I'll add that i'm a certified patient safety technician, so I have dealt with many, many carseats. Britax has always been a "gold standard" when it comes to convertibles. All carseats have to meet federal safety standards, of course, but Britax often goes above and beyond those requirements. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I love the "sturdy" feel of the carseats and the ease of use. My girls look extremely comfortable in them. We were concerned about the size of them (my husband is 6''8" and we have a Chevy Equinox) and they take up no more room rear facing than our infant seats, and actually take up less room on the bottom than our Chicco bases did. I'm not advertising for Britax by any means, just sharing my experience with them :)

Good luck on whatever you choose!

  • We have the Britax Boulevard 70 CS.  I love them but I am not so crazy about the CS part.  It's fine but I don't think it's needed.  We bought them with the BRU trade in sale and traded in the Graco baby seats for these and then with the twin discount as well.  That was the best deal we found.  I feel that they are safe which was my most important thing.  GL!
