I feel like I'm at the age where I can't find cute, stylish clothes that a. fit correctly and b. don't make me look like I just raided the junior's section at a department store.
It's hard to find cute clothes that fit well, last a while, and don't cost me $200 every time I want to find a flattering outfit.I am a young mom, not a frumpy grandma or a tween! Anyone else around my age have this issue? Where do you shop?
Re: The dilemma of being 25.
Well, I'm 28 but sometimes I struggle with this. I think that you have to just be selective about WHAT you get, rather than where. Most of my clothes come from TJ Maxx or Ross. But I still shop in the juniors section. There's definitely stuff that I shy away from in there though.
I just got a bunch of clothes from Forever 21 and I don't think they look too "teeny bopper". I just make sure to mix and match (like wear my quality designer jeans with the Forever 21 top). If that all makes sense.

I feel like I have this exact problem. New York and Company has some cute stylish clothes, but I like having more options. I love American Eagle for casual clothes, however dh and I had this discussion yesterday, and he told me he feels like I dress like some of his students ( He's a high school teacher) It's tough. He can find a great outfit at Eddie Bauer, but I feel like their women's section makes me look like I'm my mom's age, and I'm only 28.
I would appreciate some thoughts as well.
Welcome to the club, lol j/k.
I feel the same way, I don't fit the same clothing that I wore pre-baby or when I was 25.
I go to banana republic, express, the limited, guess, nordstrom, anthropologie, etc.. they have some outfits that that don't cost $200, and are not too tight or too frumpy. I like looking into the sales stuff alot though!
I'm 26 and about age 24 is when I really had a hard time finding stuff that was business, young(er) and stylish. I like Charolette Russe, Forever 21 and JCP. Typically the Forever 21 fits me pretty good, Charolette Russe is hit and miss.
This! But DH doesnt teach
But I feel the same way..I want to look stylish without looking like an old lady
did you know you can join their Teacher Appreciation group and get 15% off everything in the store? It works for Ann Taylor also
Ditto everything except that I am 31 and not 28
. Ross and F21 are my go-to places. I pair less expensive tops with designer denim and ballet flats. I also tend to go with more classic accessories.
Go Phils!!

I mainly shop at JCP (by far my #1 store), Ann Taylor loft, Banana R., J Crew, NY&Co.
I think AE and such stopped fitting me well around 22-23.....certainly not post-kids. Their stuff is just too 'young'. I NEVER EVER shop junior's sections either, they don't fit a 'mom' body well and I just look like mutton dressed as lamb.
TJMaxx or Marshalls are great places to fin cute clothes, and if you have one nearby New York & Company have some great things too.
What I like best about those stores is they have accessories and shoes within the store to match to their clothing line.
This is a huge problem for me.
sigh.
With my job & clientele, I have to dress older & conservative. But I HATE looking like I'm 40 & not 27. Most of my work wardrobe is from Talbots or Ann Taylor. I have a few cardigans & slacks from NY&Co.
Weekend stuff -- mostly jeans & button-down shirts & cardigans.
I'm 23 and look young, so I totally understand where you are coming from. I try my best not to look like I could be on 16 & Pregnant!
Most of my clothes come from Nordstrom, Express, Banana Republic, and Macy's. If you are trying not to keep costs down definitely check out a Nordstrom Rack if they have one nearby. You can get awesome designer jeans, tops, shoes, etc. at a good discount.
For those of you shopping at F21, what the heck do you find there??? Everytime I walk by it's busting at the seams with 13 year olds, so I don't even bother going in. If it's worth it let me know!!!
Really?? I guess there is a big difference in how a 25 year old views fashion today and how a 40 year old (me) sees it. To me, I think women in their 20s and 30s have it easier. All the fashion forward clothes are more appropriate for your age, IMO. I tend to buy most of my clothes from Ann Taylor Loft nowadays because the stuff I like at Old Navy just seems to young for me.
As long as you don't shop in the Juniors (odd sizes) department at this point, you have endless options.

I'm 26 and I shop mostly at Express, Maurices, Marshalls/TJ Maxx. Sometimes I find decent stuff at Old Navy, Kohls, AE.
My bigger problem is finding something to wear that isn't work clothes and isn't pajamas. I have tons of dressy clothes for when I was working and a lot of workout/lounging clothes, but I'm trying to build up my casual clothes. I never know what to wear just for everyday.
