Bassinet question

For those planning on using one, what kind of sheets, etc. are you using? I'm borrowing my SIL and she gave it to us this weekend. It's a beautiful one from Pottery barn and I'm psyched to use it. However, I thought I'd only need to register for new sheets for it. I had no idea how many other components there were as well.

For example, she brought over everything with the bassinet- sheets, bumpers, and some other things that I had no clue what they even where!

So my question to you ladies is- What are you using for your bassinet? What exactly do we need?? I'm so confused now!

Re: Bassinet question

  • Our stroller came with a bassinet, and sounds far less complicated than what you are describing above.  I just got an extra mattress protector and planned on putting the swaddled kiddo on top.  I don't think I'm any less help at all!

  • The pottery barn kids bassinet (if it's the one they currently sell) has a certain bedding set that fits to it.  It comes with the sheets, bumbers, etc.  and it's around $130. I think if you have one set, you will be fine, maybe see if standard oval bassinet sheets will fit it, and get a couple extra sheets.  Better yet, I would just call your SIL and ask if she needed and where she got additional bedding.  $130 is a steep price for bassinet bedding.

  • We have a basinette from a friend and to be honest I never thought of putting sheets in it.  I guess a mattress protector would be good but sheets never occured to me.  It doesn't look like a typical crib matress as it is the same color as the basinette and patterned.  I guess that's why I didn't think of it.

  • I have the same bassinet you are talking about and bought bedding on craigslist for $30 (the entire set which is the sheet, bumper, and skirt).  Other brands of bassinet sheets do fit, but pottery barn makes their bassinet sheets very well.  They cover the entire bottom of the mattress as well as the top and velcro on the underside so the sheet won't get loose and be a suffocation hazard.  I think any sheet would work though.  I am buying some of those elastic alligator sheet clips and will attach it from side to side using those.
