Explain crib sets to me

yesterday we got the crib and crib mattress.  in november bf's sister got us the crib set. so last night me and the bf put the crib together with minimal problems/name calling and now i need to clean it and put the mattress in and dress it up with the crib set.

i open it up and throw it in the wash. 4 piece set. fitted sheet. quilt. non-breathable bumpers. crib skirt.  im not up for a  debate on the bumpers because for picture purposes and probably until march they will be on the empty crib because its cute.  my question is the skirt.  on my grown up bed i have a mattress and a box frame.  the skirt goes between the two.  but in this crib its just a mattress.  where does the skirt go?! am i supposed to have to mattress in the crib? do they make baby box frames? someone tell me what to do please. i promise i wont have a breakdown till after everything dries, so yall have until then to tell me.

thanks girls :)

Re: Explain crib sets to me

  • I'd have to see your crib to tell you.  Usually it goes under the mattress on whatever holds the mattress, likely the frame itself.

  • it goes under the mattress, between the wire thing that holds the mattress and the mattress. There should be room to slide teh skirt down between the rails so it falls and you can see it.

hope that helps it is kind of hard to explain.

  • You put it under the mattress on top of the metal frame part that holds the mattress up. HTH!

  • My crib had a spring platform that attached directly to the crib that the mattress sits on top of.  I put the crib skirt on that and then put the mattress on top.  What kind of crib do you have?

  • The mattress has to lay on top of something - usually it is a platform loosely described as the box spring, but it's not like a box spring on a normal bed. The skirt goes over the platform, mattress on top.

I couldn't find a great pic, but here is one of a skirt over the platform, before the mattress is added:

  • The crib skirt goes under the mattress. On the metal that holds the mattress in the crib. There's no baby box spring lol

  • We have also always put it on the metal frame and then put the mattress on top of that - it worked like a charm the first time.  The only problem we had was when the crib was at its highest point the skirt would be about 4-5 inches off the ground...as we lowered the bed it got closer to touching the ground.
  • i like how none of yall mentioned that the skirt is a pain in the ass to get straight through those slats lol.

Lol, did you iron it first. I thought it wasn't that hard because it kind of just fell right into place once ironed.
