My dog is stoned

I'm a bad doggy mommy.

We had our dog in doggy daycare while we were visiting my parents. During her stay, Bailey caught her dew claw playing and almost ripped it off. They had to take her to the vet. Her paw is wrapped, and they gave us pain meds and antibiotics for the next few days.

When we got home, I gave her one antibiotic pill and one pain pill. Turns out the she's only supposed to get 1/2 of the pain pill every 12 hours. There's a big star next to the instructions (which I obviously didn't read). She's lying on her back on the rug staring at the ceiling with googly eyes. I feel terrible.

    Aw, poor pup. Hopefully she heals twice as fast in this extra-relaxed state!

    Heh well if the worst it does is make her goofy for a while, it's OK. Just don't do it again. Stick out tongue (And I'm probably a worse doggy mommy than you because if I accidentally did that to one of my pooches, I'd probably think the stoned result was funny)

    Yeah, it's good that you caught it right away so it only happened once, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, esp if she's okay otherwise and just a bit dazed =P Hope she heals quickly from the operation though! Poor thing--it must've hurt a lot at the time =/

    Don't feel bad, Ryan did the same thing to Luna when she got spayed, he gave her twice the amt of pain meds (1 pill instead of 1/2) and she was super loopy. Of course he felt terrible because he did it and I laughed because he didn't read the directions and because the dog was out of it!

    Well, she's back to her crazy, energetic self this morning. I guess I didn't do any lasting harm.

    We did get a good laugh out of it after I got over feeling bad. The blank stares and the wobbly walk were pretty entertaining.
