Hey all, I just got my BFP and am only 4w2d along. But fraternal twins "plague" the women in my family (multiple sets in every generation at least 5 generations back).
I am just wondering how your early weeks went and if you had the MS at this point (I've had a little nauseau), and other crazy symptoms.
Thanks and congrats to you all!

Re: What were your early symptoms?
"Plauge"? Ouch.
It was my first pregnancy, so everything seemed pretty normal to me.
I was car sick, immediately which turned into HEG by 6w. However, my earliest sign was the ultrasound I had in the ER at 6w when they found two thumping little hearts in there.
but, there really is no way to know without the US.
hmm...."plague"
We didn't find out it was twins until our 12 week NT scan. No symptoms, no morning sickness, no extra weight gain, we still wouldn't know until this day without seeing two on the u/s. Ultrasound is the only sure way to tell.
no early symptoms at all that differed from my singleton pg.... i had a little more nausea with the twins than my singleton- but that still was hardly anything (esp compared to friends of mine puking all the time)... more m/s does not = twins at all... some singleton pg's have so much nausea that it puts women in the hospital.
I knew it was twins at 5 weeks b/c I was seeing an RE - so i was able to compare from right away to my singleton pg.... even my betas were similar with both pg's.
since you have a chance for them b/c of your family - i would ask your Ob to do an early US to confirm singleton or twins.
congrats on the pregnancy- and come on back if you do end up with twins!
"Plague"? Really? Not very nice.
I just wasn't feeling "normal" and I took a test just because. Found out it was twins the next week.
Plague, eh? I think I'm going to start calling the duo my little locusts now. Or maybe frogs. Frogs would probably be more accurate.
As far as symptoms, the only ones I had at 4 weeks were a BFP and betas that were a little high.
I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone with "plague" (thats why I put it into quotes). It's just our family joke because there are so many of them at any given family reunion. No negative feelings towards twins whatsoever, thats just the jargon I grew up on- I'm really sorry!!!!!

No early symptoms for me. In fact I had an u/s at 4w6d and we only saw one sac.
A week later I had another u/s (5w6d) and there were two sacs, but one didn't have a fetal pole. I thought for sure it would be a vanishing twin.
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
I didn't really have any unique "twin symptoms". The only difference was that compared to my singleton pregnancy, I was nauseous all day instead of just in the afternoon but still never once threw up so it really wasn't bad enough to make me wonder anything. And I actually had some of the other "typical pregnancy symptoms" that people had always told me about but I had never experienced during my pregnancy with my son. I just chalked it up to the fact that every pregnancy is different. The only reason we found out there were two babies was when we saw them on the 11 week NT scan.
Congrats on your pregnancy!
I knew your were joking and assumed "plague" was a joke in your family....we've had a few nasty comments from people in the last couple of weeks so I think some may have been sensitive.
I just slept constantly- constantly. Nauseau (sp? too tired.....) a little bit- but not like the old wives tales you hear (like if you are super sick it's twins). I never threw up or anything. Mostly I would just get nauseaus if I didn't eat, but it only happened a handful of times. One time I did get really light headed, but again, because I didn't eat.
I found out it was twins at 13/14 weeks during an u/s. I DID think it was odd that at 12 weeks I was showing and having to use a bella band, etc. But I was more self-concious than anything else and didn't assume it was because there was twins!
I had heartburn prior to my bfp at 12dpo (dark positive)-I had no clue until my first u/s at 6w2d when the Dr said "whoa" there's two. I did have full on vomiting everyday morning sickness by 5w (all the way through 22w-it was hard). I guess that could be seen as an indicator but I know a lot of singleton moms who had bad m/s too.
GL!
My first symptom was an ultrasound that showed 2 embryos at 6 weeks.
But looking back, my betas were quadrupling at a crazy rate. Of course, that isn't a predictive factor on its own. Good luck!
Lol! Sounds like a fun family
I had awful nausea and my RE told me that it was more common with twins. But that was after we knew it was twins! So maybe she was making me feel better. The only sure way to know is by an ultrasound, but you can always compare betas for fun (if you have them) at betabase.info. My betas were very high and according to that website I was having 3-4 babies. It ended up only being 2 but even the nurse at my doctor's office said they were probably too high for a singleton.
Congrats on the BFP!!!

I am with you on the Plague thing. I find out monday if we are having multiples as fraternal twins run like crazy through my family. I am kind of hoping for twins though.
