I just got back from my anatomy scan and I was referred to a specialist for a couple things that were concerning. First thing, the tech said the calves were enlarged. She asked if big calves run in the family and indeed, they do. But she also said she hadn't seen anything like this, it's not consistent with edema. It looks like soft tissue, muscle to her, it's just enlarged. Secondly she said there is a bright spot in the bowels. She said it could just be some poop or blood in the bowels that the baby is holding there since they aren't supposed to go in the womb.
She said neither one of these necessarily mean anything, it could just be normal variances or, in the case of the calves, hereditary but I have to go to a specialist to check everything out. I'm so worried! Does anyone have any experience with either of these things?

T&P headed your way- I went to a specialist for my u/s and they were super fast and very precise. Since the doctor reviews the tech's scans immediately/while they're doing them it's nice knowing when we left there if there were any problems or not.
Keep us posted. I hope your baby is just planning on being an athlete!

I have had 2 abnormal ultrasounds so far and I know that waiting is the hardest part! It is hard to keep your mind from filling up with all the "what ifs". Take care of yourself today and do something nice for you! Tomorrow will be here before you know it!
Good luck and keep us posted!
Well I don't know what to say about the big calf muscles (except maybe baby just has big calf muscles). But I do know that my best friend had a similar issue with a bright spot on baby's bowels seen on ultrasound and it turned out to be nothing. It went away on it's own. And baby girl is now a healthy and beautiful 8 week old!
Hopefully it's nothing and they're just being cautious. But I know how it starts to make you freak out! Hang in there!
