2nd Trimester

Ideas to pass the time? Waiting for results.

Any websites, good tv shows, books, music, songs, basically ANYTHING that will help me pass the time. I have even resorted to playing Farmville on Facebook (I hate that game!). I simply need distracted. Please flood this post with your ideas :)

Waiting for the results of my amniocentesis is the hardest thing I have ever done. My LO has a 1:2 ratio for trisomy 18 & mentally, & emotionally can not take sitting around checking these posts 24/7, & facebook anymore. I work for the school district as a sub so right now I am just twitting my thumbs since it's christmas break.

I just want to space out & distract myself for thinking for a little bit. I feel like I'm on bedrest even though I can do anything, I mentally can't do anything.

Thank you ladies! Please help!!!!

  • Oh, that is so hard.  T&P to you and your LO!

Let's see... When I was on bedrest I liked freerice.com - answer questions right and they donate rice to the hungry.  Etsy is always fun for shopping... Projectnursery, if you're looking for ideas on the baby's room... I'm probably the last person to play this game, but I just found FreeCell on the computer.  I also like Hostestwiththemostest.com - so fun to look at other people's party decorations.

Hope the time goes by QUICKLY!!!!

Expecting our 3rd little girl this New Year's!

  • wow lil mama! deep breaths!!! I totally can see why youre nervous! but, think positive!

I watch this show sometimes on Hulu.com called raising Hope, it's pretty funny, and has a cute baby in it.

    and solitaire is good.

    do your nails.

    take a bubble bath.

make cookies- cooking makes me forget about everything.

good luck and keep us posted!!!

  • That must be really hard.  Try and hope for the best.

I like to read the following blogs to pass the time, young house love, pioneer woman, dana made it, homemade by jill, annies eats.

I think you need to find a good movie.  That always helps me forget my troubles.  Like "You've got Mail" or "While you were sleeping"

  • I'm with you on the waiting game. My odds aren't that bad for Trisomy 13 but they were there. Netflix has been a real saving grace. Find a show that you would like to watch thats on the instant streaming if you have netflix and just watch a marathon worth of it.

  • If you like games you can try pogo.com, It's free and has lots of fun games on it. When I was on bedrest with my last one my DH got my the paid version and I have been playing ever since. My daughter even has her own free account. It is very easy to lose hours on the site.

  • Oh no! I'm sorry to hear this. You have my thoughts and prayers - and! distractions.

My favorite website is notcot.com - it is fabulous! and there are hundreds of entries so you can go back, back, back, and click on many links. I fall down rabbit holes on a regular basis there.

    FARK.COM <--another rabbit hole

    Cracked.com

Netflix/Hulu - find a show you've never given a shot and have a marathon. Have you ever seen Ultimate Gamer? That's free/on Hulu. So nerdy - love it.

Google The Guild - they're webisodes about a bunch of gaming dorks. BTW, I am not a gamer, I just Wii on occasion. Wink

Are you a child of the 80's? Check out Soleil Moon Frye on FB. She's still full of Punky power!

    Pandora.com

If you need more, don't hesitate to ask! You can PM me for a list of nutty blogs I like :)

This.  You can play familiar games like Battleship and Monopoly.  Sometimes I play all morning, waiting for DH to wake up (I get up at 5, he wakes at 11!).

  • I like to read, so I can spend an hour or two just searching for good books in the library.  Then, once you have found some good books, you can get lost in reading them them for a while.
  • Thanks everyone. I am trying lots of these ideas today. its really helping!

  • Can't imagine how hard this is for you.  I got possible bad news at my ultrasound yesterday and waiting till next week for the Level 3 is killing me.  Stay strong and I'll hope for great news for you.

Here are some other ideas, since you're not on bed rest:

Take a walk, wash your car, de-clutter your house and donate the extras, go to a big thrift store and scour for treasures, start an indoor garden in a sunny corner, or plant herbs in your kitchen window, go see a movie (in the theater, the old fashioned way)

Anyways, my prayers are with you.
