Convertible Carseat Rec's Please...

I have had the Britax Marathons for DD's #1 and #2 since they were each 6 mo. old. We love them and feel they are very safe and comfortable, well worth the money. In fact, Caroline has had hers for 4 1/2 yrs. now! It still looks new and nice even with all th washes it's been through.

I am ready to purchase the convertible carseats for the boys now but it's been 3 yrs. since I've bought one. I see there are new types in the Britax brand such as the "Advocate." My ONLY complaint about the Marathon is that the bottom latch is hard for little ones to do (my 5 yr. old can do it but 3 yr. old still can't get it).

Which carseats did you purchase? Why? I am willing to look outside the Britax brand if there are rec's for others...Thanks so much!

Also, if anyone knows which are rated the highest that would be useful info. as well:)

  • Also, what's the diff. between the Marathon 70 and the Boulevard 70? What is the new "click and safe" feature? I just don't see in the pictures how it's different from the previous models. Thanks.

  • I haven't bought my convertibles yet but I'd let you know that albee baby is having a big baby clearance. They've got britax's on clearance too.
  • We just received our Britax Marathon 70's in the mail on Friday. I have to say that I LOVE them, even more than the previous models. I can't comment much on the buckle, since my girls are only 8.5 months old, but I don't find them any harder to do/undo than the Chicco carseats they were in before. We got ours from albeebaby.com for 25% off, so total cost was $420 for both! When you consider that they're $309 a piece at BRU, that is one heck of a bargain.

Also, I'll add that i'm a certified patient safety technician, so I have dealt with many, many carseats. Britax has always been a "gold standard" when it comes to convertibles. All carseats have to meet federal safety standards, of course, but Britax often goes above and beyond those requirements. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I love the "sturdy" feel of the carseats and the ease of use. My girls look extremely comfortable in them. We were concerned about the size of them (my husband is 6''8" and we have a Chevy Equinox) and they take up no more room rear facing than our infant seats, and actually take up less room on the bottom than our Chicco bases did. I'm not advertising for Britax by any means, just sharing my experience with them :)

Good luck on whatever you choose!

  • THe Graco Nautilus will probably take them thru most stages..........
