Question for you all....(maybe I should scan through more msgs on here before asking or look more online for this answer)....is it true that moms-to-be of twins/multiples get bigger faster in pregnancy, have crazier m/s...etc?

Sometimes; sometimes not.
They will certainly tend to get bigger faster, but not till closer to the second trimester and beyond. I measured 12w at 12w, but by 16w I measured 20w. Pregnancy symptoms can really vary; they certainly can be worse with a multiples pregnancy since your body has more to deal with, but that varies dramatically from person to person. My sister and one of my best friends both got pregnant with singletons right about when I did. My friend had WAY more morning sickness, nausea and vomiting than I did; I had more dizziness and certainly had more pain and discomfort further along in pregnancy since I was measuring 8-10 weeks ahead by the third tri (e.g. couldn't walk the last four weeks).
It all depends on the person. I had crazy morning sickness that lasted entirely too long, but there are plenty of other MoM's who didn't feel sick at all. I didn't show until 18+ weeks, and measured about 2 weeks ahead at most until the very end when I was measuring about 4 weeks ahead. I was smaller with my twins than my similarly built friend was with her singleton. It all depends on the position of the babies and the build of the mother I guess.
Like pp said really depends on the person.
I had hardly any morning sickness but i feel like i started to show right away! I remeber EVERY time DH and i went to OB he would say. "are you sure there isnt more than 1 in there she is giant" the OB actually told him to be careful what he says infront of a pregnant woman. Turns out at 21 weeks opppss its twins.
Ditto what everyone said.
The only way to tell is with an u/s. Symptoms, betas, and size are not reliable indicators.

This has been my experience as well. I had no m/s with our son but I definitely had it from about 5.5 weeks until 13 weeks with this pregnancy (I found out it was twins during a routine u/s with my OB at 8w2d). At my appt last week at 23w4d, I was measuring 34 weeks. At 20 weeks I was measuring 28 and at 16 weeks I was measuring 20. I'm already more uncomfortable than I ever remember being during my last pregnancy especially if I've been sitting in one place for a while or if I try to turn over in bed.

Exactly like PP's said.. its different with everyone. My sister and friend both had way worse symptoms w/their singleton then i've had. I haven't had any morning sickness, and haven't gained extra weight. At my 20 week dr appt, (2 weeks ago) I had gained 11 lbs total. Babies are both growing great, at 13oz each and the dr said so far so good. I do feel like I'm gaining much more each week now!
I had zero pregnancy symptoms. Never had even the slightest hint of nausea throughout the entire pg. Everyone is different and every pg is different. I didn't start to show until around 16-18 weeks either.
Got it. Honestly, that early it's simply bloat. I had friends in my January due date "club" who were having singletons and I was one of the last people in our group to need a tummy sleeve/maternity pants! But from the second tri on, I was definitely getting bigger faster than the rest of them.
If you haven't already, get a copy of Dr. Luke's "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads"; lots of great advice. Weight gain is actually very important in a multiples pregnancy and she explains that well, too!
