Hey Ladies,
I got blood work done last week at 7DPO because the doctor suspects LTD. Unfortunely the nureses filled out the script wrong and the lab did not check my progesterone levels. I have to wait another month to get it checked! Its very frustrating.........
The doctor did let me know that I have elevated Proclatin levels which he wants to check again next month. Does anyone else have this problem? Advice/suggestions?

Hi! I was diagnosed with hyperprolactinemia in August 2010. Prolactin stops your body from ovulating. My RE put me on Parlodel and my Prolactin levels are normal now. He also had me get an MRI to rule out a prolactinoma (a BENIGN tumor on the pituitary gland). I didn't have one, but they are common and are harmless. The Parlodel will also treat that. It will shrink the tumor.
In my case, unfortunately, it's not the only reason I'm not ovulating! So, I am on to my first round of Clomid.
BTW....I am from Long Island!! I lived in Patchogue for a couple years. But I grew up in Setauket! Good Luck to you!!

I was diagnosed with high prolactin due to a prolactinoma (pituitary tumor) in September 2010.
Prolactin interferes with ovulation, by inhibiting FSH (follicle stiiumlating hormone), which then doesn't allow follicles to grow, hence eggs to not mature and you do not ovulate.
I was put on Cabergoline to control the prolactin levels, which after 6 weeks, it was down in the normal range. I am currently not on Cabergoline, because my RE suggested not using it while TTC. I just got b/w done this morning to check many things, including my prolactin. I'm anxious to get the results back to see what my levels are since I haven't been on the meds for the past 4 weeks. Another med that CAN be taken while TTC is Bromocriptine; however, many women have a lot of nausea with this drug. I opted to try no meds before I go on Bromocriptine.
Overall, depending on how elevated your prolactin is, it can be easily mangaged with meds. Let me know if you have any other specific questions!
Another thing to consider is that maybe you are ovulating, as your chart suggests (mine does, too); however, that doesn't mean that the egg is completely maturing. I'm not confident about this, just some of my thoughts based on research I've been doing and some information from my dr. I would make a list of these types of questions for your doctor. It definitely stinks having to wait another month, but at least you know that prolactin levels can easily be managed.

This is what I am taking (Parlodel)....and it took me about 2 or 3 weeks to get adjusted to it. I was very tired when I first started but now I am fine. I always take it with breakfast and dinner so I don't get nauseous.
