I never really had m/s with Claire, but it's been getting worse by the day during this pregnancy. I haven't been able to keep anything down since last night, and I feel miserable! Do you all have any suggestions on what to eat or do to help with this? I'm hungry, but I'm afraid to eat. TIA!
Re: m/s help needed
sorry! Mine isn't bad (I never threw up), but I had some (none with Andrew) For me the key was eating something every 2 hrs and getting enough sleep.
Hope it gets better!
I never got sick, but I had some wicked nausea first tri. Things that helped:
Lean protein. Eggs, cottage cheese pancakes, chicken sauteed in olive oil and a few spices, salmon, and edamame were all helpful to me.
Simple, one or two food combinations instead of meals or snacks with lots going on. A veggie and protein, or fruit and grain, tended to be really good pairings. Avoiding lots of sugar was sad, but really helpful.
Eat something bland before getting out of bad if it's bad in the morning.
Try ginger tea, peppermint tea, or lemon tea.
Preggie pop drops are expensive, but for some reason they helped me when hard candy didn't.
I also had really good luck with General Tso's Tofu for some reason. Nights when everything had made me queasy all day, that stuff was a godsend. But central PA is probably a bit far to drive in this weather, so I'm guessing that one isn't helpful.

I lived off of carbs when I was pg with Haley (and still lost 10 lbs in the 1st tri). I also tried to eat often (every couple hours). Peanut butter crackers, granola bars (the crunchy kind), club crackers, mac'n'cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. Those things saved me when I was pg. Peanut butter sandwiches were also really good fillers too. My OB always just told me to eat what I could keep down and not worry about the balanced diet, but that I would get there in the 2nd trimester.
Ginger - Jake found some good ginger candy while we were in he checkout line at Target.
Lemon juice in hot water
Jolly Rancher suckers/sour hard candy.
Saltines.
Peppermint
Eating small and often.
Taking my prenatal right before bed helped me too.
I got given B-natal suckers to try by my nurse but they didnt help me.
All the above have helped me at some point, although for me none of them work all the time. I haven't got horribly sick, I can keep food down, but I do get sick most mornings, and some evening, and apart from the last few days, have still been feeling sick at 15 weeks.
Ok, so this response is a tad bit late, but I hope you get it. I was wicked sick with DS for like 22 weeks and lost crazy amounts of weight (I guess the payback was that I gained it all back after the m/s went away).Anyways...
What helped me:
~ I kept a box of crispix cereal next to the bed. I ate a handful before even getting up. Then I would elevate my head/chest for 15 minutes or so and sip on room temp/cool cola.
~ lemons (seriously, actual lemons). The hard candies did nothing. Nor did ginger anything.
~ Peanut butter crackers (the Austin ones were my favorite)
~ Sipping on water all day long (cold, but not ice water)
~ Eating when I wasn't feeling nauseated would help stave off nauseousness longer.
~ Tacos. Don't ask me why, it doesn't make sense, but I could always eat tacos.
