Just wanted to vent. I want to preface this by saying that our families do not know we are TTC. On Sunday we celebrated Christmas with DH's side of the family. My MIL always cooks an absurd amount of food for a very small amount of people. She sent us home with a lasagna pan full of leftovers (for which I am grateful!), and then wanted to send us home with an entire cheesecake (DH doesn't like, so I would be the only one eating it). I said no, but thank you, it would just go bad.

My SIL then piped up, "Ya Ma, she'd gain another 5 pounds off that thing." (Another?!!?!)

to which MIL replied "Well you're going to gain weight if you finally get pregnant anyways."

You have to laugh, I guess...

    Another?? That's not very nice. In-laws can be really untactful with their words sometimes...At least you are able to laugh.

    Another five pounds? Finally get pregnant? Jeez ... not a lot of tact in that family. Sounds like something that could come out of my MIL's mouth. Just be thankful they don't know you're TTC.

    Wow. So rude! I'm not sure whose comment would upset me more! I'm impressed that you can laugh it off. I think I'd be fuming for days!

    That would piss me off. Also I am sure that an entire cheesecake would make me gain like 20 pounds not 5. It would be sooooo worth it if it was only 5 pounds.

    No tact at all in that family. How did you keep your cool. I would NOT be happy and joking about it.

    oooh reading comprehension fail on my part. I can't believe she said that! WTF is wrong with her? Glad you can laugh at it, but jesus.
