Trying to Get Pregnant

Trying something new

Hi Ladies,

You have not seen me around much this month because I decided to take a break from charting and bumping.  Last month I suspected I have not been ovulating so I called my doctor.  I had bloodwork done on CD 21 and got my results yesterday.  I was right.  I am not ovulating and my progesterone levels are low (.07%).  My doctor said he would like to see it be at least 10%.  My doctor has prescribed Metformin and Clomid.  I will take e tablets of Metformin a night and take the Clomid cycle days 3-7.  I will go back in on CD 21 again for more bloodwork to see if I am ovulating with the Clomid.  While it is tough to hear that my body is not doing what it is supposed to we are hopeful and thankful that my doctor is being proactive.  Let's hope this is the answer we are looking for.

If you have or are taking Clomid, what are your thoughts on it?  Any side effects?  How many cycles have you been taking it?  Thank you!

I thought that if your chart showed a difference in temps (ovulation) that it meant you were actually ovulating.  Is that not the case?  Sorry to hear your news.  I hope your doctor has some good news for you soon!

  • I just finished my first round of clomid (100mg CD3-7) last night. Overall it didnt really bother me. I had a couple hot flashes at night, overall felt a little "icky" but nothing major by any means. I am also taking metformin (750mg 2x a day)..  GL with your cycle. I'm hoping mine worked and I O next week!

  • On your three charts with temps you have a temp shift which indicate ovulation, but they are not on cd14 which is the only situation in which you'd have an accurate p4 test on cd21 as it is supposed to be done on 7dpo.

Have you had a baseline ultrasound and cd3 b/w?  An hsg/shg?  Your husband a SA?

And apparently you aren't going to be monitored.

I'd find a new dr. and give my body a chance to do things on it's own before I jumped into all that.

But in answer to your question- I took clomid for one cycle, ovulated (but I already do that on my own), and got pregnant.

I got pregnant with twins more than likely because I had a few mature follies at trigger thanks to the clomid, the lowest dose of clomid.  Because of that, I won't do it again.

Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.

"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
  • This is my 3rd cycle of Clomid and although I haven't gotten my BFP yet, the side effects have been very minimal.  I didn't have any bad effects the first 2 cycles, and this current one I just had a few hot flashes...they wern't bad at all.

    GL to you!

So happy for my BFPB Steff13914 and her new twins! Welcome to the world sweet babies:) Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Question for Clomid/annovulatory experts: OP seemed to be ovulating based on her temp shifts, but her doctor says she wasn't. That is making me think temp shifts are possibly not always indicating O? Or was the doctor wrong? It's making me doubt my O too! What is everyone's opinion on this?

  • I've taken Clomid, and was a lot more emotional than normal. My friend at work said her sister had been on it and almost hit her DH with her car. I think it just depends on the person. Everyone reacts different to it. I'm sorry you got some less than exciting news. I've had that phone call too, and it really sucks. Mine came 2 days before Thanksgiving last year. Try to keep your head up. Educate yourself as much as possible, and try to remember that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

The Dr is an idiot. CD 21 b/w doesn't mean shiit unless you O on CD14, which the OP did not.

  • I am really confused by this post.  There are clear temp shifts in your chart OP...did you discuss this with your doctor?  What did he say?
