Pain, sorry TMI

I apologize in advance if this is too much info, but I need advice/help. I am 6 mo post partum (c section)  and I have been unable to have intercourse  with my husband due to significant pain.   Things don't feel right down there and I feel that there is "extra tissue" where it didn't used to be.  I went to a new OB because I moved out of state since I gave birth and she suggested I get tested for STD's (thanks, but I don't think so) and to try lubrication (as if I hadn't thought of that).  I am breastfeeding and I read that the estrogen does have a drying effect, but I wonder if my pelvic floor muscles aren't normal now.  I think I should seek a second opinion as the ob I went to just finished her residency.  Has this happened to anyone else?  What did you do?  PM me if this info is too personal for you to reply on the board.  Thanks!

Re: Pain, sorry TMI

  • It took awhile for things to feel normal down there - closer to 10 months maybe? I had a c section too.

  • I felt normal after the 6-8 week waiting period. I would get a 2nd opinion.
  • It's been almost 3 months post delivery for me and while it's a little uncomfortable, it's not painful. I would get a second opinion.

  • It's still painful for me.  Really tight.  It happens with some women.  I've tried lube, etc. also.  From what I've read/understand, you just need to keep "trying" - stretching it back out, etc. I had a c-section.  Honestly, we haven't been "trying" all that much....as everyone knows there's a lot going on here with two babies so we're definitely not as busy in the bedroom as we used to be.  We just talked about it recently saying that we need to pick up the pace more and get me back to normal!

You can certaintly get a second opinion if you feel like you need to...I think suggesting an STD sounds weird, but that's just me.

  • Thank you for all the replies and at least I know I'm not alone.  Yes, I was pretty mad about the STD suggestion and I will not see this particular doctor again.
