So I just visited my gyno and while there, I mentioned that I temp and use OPK's and believe that I'm ovulating, but have a LP on the short side (about 10 days or so). My doc said that he can't do anything until we're at the one year mark, but that after doing some testing and stuff at my year mark he may put me on Clomid. I thought Clomid was used more so when a woman isn't ovulating. Right?? I was kind of thinking he would mention giving me progesterone cream or something to lengthen my LP. Has anyone heard of getting clomid for a short LP?
I'll apologize now for my chart, with the holidays and traveling, I wasn't the best about temping.
Re: Clomid used for a short LP??
Clomid can be used to increase luteal phase. Here are some things to keep in mind:
10 day LP is not that short. Ask about confirming low progesterone with a blood test. Other things besides low progesterone can cause shorter LPs.
Insist on proper monitoring. Blood work and ultrasounds that will keep an eye on how many eggs will release, when they will release, and how thick your uterine lining is. This will help identify very dangerous situations in time.
Do your research. If you're not comfortable on Clomid, really push for less aggressive measures first.
Get blood work, HSG, and semen analysis before beginning.

Ditto Sulf.
My LP was increased from 10-12 days to 14-15 while on Clomid ( and I was already ovulating)
Also, from what I have learned, progesterone in a cream form will not help unless you mean cream = suppository (inserted into your vag).
I know that lots of OB/GYNs will just practically throw clomid at patients but you really want to know what's going on in the big picture before just trying to blindly be treated. If you think the OB is not treating you properly ( which honestly most don't), you may want to think about seeing a RE. Just check with your insurance to check to see what is/isn't covered and at what time-frame.

Thanks Sulfa! I just thought the automatic hop to Clomid was a bit extreme since I thought it was bad to be on it for extended periods of time.
My doc also said that there's nothing I can do naturally to lengthen my LP, but I thought taking vitamin B6 can help a little??

In my experience, 100mg or so of B6 may buy you a day or two, depending on what the reason behind the short LP is.

I take the Trader Joe's B6/Folic Acid/B12 supplement and it has bought me a day or two since the summer. My ob/gyn suggested it! It is something your body needs anyways so it can't hurt.
