Morning sickness comes and goes?

Hi everyone! I am so happy to be able to finally post on here! I am 5 weeks and 3 days and a nervous reck. I know I need to sit back and enjoy this, but I think I have read one to many blogs and it's amazing how much you can love something so much so quickly! Anyway, I found out super early (6 days before missed perios thanks to FRPT) and have had three sonograms so far, which with our next one will definitely wait until at least sixth or seventh week before going in there. I think it has made me a nervous wreck. My first HCG was 82 and seven days later it went up to 2565 so I am thrilled about that. Progesterone is 16.5.  I had a sono on Friday and they only saw a gestational sac and was hoping for the yolk sac. The Doctor said we should be able to see the yolk sac and possibley heartbeat on Wednesday when I am 5 weeks, 5 days. I am still exhausted, but my nausea isn't as bad at all and I guess I am just being a nervous nellie. I feel like popping in today for a sono too as I can't wait until Wednesday. Anyway, I guess my question is has your morning sickness come and gone? Does it come back after week 6 or 7? Also, how far along were you when you saw the yolk sac? There is no reason for me to be concerned, but this is my first baby and just very nervous:) Thank you everyone. Any advice is appreciated,

  • Symptoms come and go for sure, also 5wks is very early (I haven't had any m/s at all) , it usually hits hard between 7-9. My OB doesn't see people for NPN until after 10wks, so I couldn't tell you about the sac q.

  • I am very nauseous this morning and I'm only 4 weeks. I'm currently eating toast to try to calm my tummy down a little.

You have had that many ultra sounds already? Weird. I don't go for my first appointment until Jan. 4th and I will be 6 weeks at that point....

  • your doctor did see you very very early!  I was 5w6d when I had my first u/s because of bleeding.  We did see everything including a spec of rice that was the baby with a heartbeat.  But I had another ultrasound a week later to confirm the bleeding was gone and it should I was measuring 5 days ahead, that being said I may have actually been 6w4d at my first ultrasound.  Either way, there isn't much you can do, going to the doctor today for a u/s still might not show anything.  Listen to your doctor, he knows what he is doing and when you can/can't see things on an ultrasound.  Also just an fyi most doctors won't listen for the heartbeat with a doppler until 10-12 weeks so be prepared for that.

Yes M/S comes and goes for some and doesn't for others.  I was fortunate enough with my first pregnancy to not have ANY at all.  This pregnancy I've had a dozen or so days when I've feel crappy at times but I've never puked, thankfully!

Try to relax you can't control anything right now.  There are some other girls on this board that always say think this:  "Today I am pregnant and I will love my baby, that is all I can control right now. "  It will be along 40 weeks if you don't try to relax a bit.

  • They did see me early. I'm in NY, and seems they like to get you in early which is kind of stressful. Thank you for your replies. You're right, I need to relax, not stress, enjoy and love my baby today:) Thanks again! Wishing you all a healthy and happy pregancy! :)

  • Yes, kind of ridiculous, huh?
  • My morning sickness started right around 6 weeks and lasted consistently through the 9th week, but it still keeps coming and going!

If you find that blogs/message boards are making you more nervous, try your absolute hardest just not to sign on to them!! Maybe you could find a good, non-pregnancy-related book that you can get into, and read that instead of looking around online and possibly worrying yourself.

  • My m/s didn't really kick in full-time until around 5.5 weeks.  At that point, I was sick all day long, no matter what I ate.  The last few days, my m/s seems to be more manageable -- I know what to eat and what to avoid.  I also know that anything before noon time is sure to make a reappearance, so I try to eat more bland stuff during the morning hours.

We've only had one u/s at 6w5d (which was early for us -- they like to do the first at 7 weeks so you can see the heartbeat).  We saw the heartbeats at that time.  Our next u/s will be at 9-10 weeks.

    Good Luck!

  • I went to the doctor at 8 weeks and was able to see the yolk sac pretty clearly.  I, luckily, haven't had any morning sickness at all, but the symptoms I do have (breast tenderness and fatigue) come and go, so I assume it would be the same with morning sickness.  This is my first baby too, so I have also been nervous, but reading these message boards really helps.
