Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling pretty good. Just exhausted all the time and the holidays have not helped matters any
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Just had my cervical length u/s that I have to go to every two weeks until 32 weeks and all still looks normal. The best part of that appointment is I get to see LO
I have my monthly checkup on Thursday.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Trying to keep in party mode. It's been so hectic with family in town and unwinding from the holidays that this preggo mamma is TIRED! I can't wait to "de-Christmasize" my house and get things back to normal.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? Hmmm...let me get through this one and see if I even want to go that route
This might be the only LO for us since MH already has a teenage daughter and since this pregnancy has gone very well and uneventful, my luck the next one will be hell on wheels!
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? GREAT question! All I know is my motto will be 9 months up, 9 months down but I don't know how I will achieve that
I would love to read everyone elses motivational tips to get back into shape.

(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? I am going to try to stay in shape during the pregnancy so it will be easier to take off after.:)
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling okay. a bit frustrated, this kid can't catch a break! see BR challenge below. on a positive note, CDing full time has been going really well, MH is on board too. he said we had a leak up the back the other day, but I didn't see it - not sure what happened (nor have I found poo-stained clothing...need to ask about that!). no leaks that I've seen!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? should have been January, for 2 mo, but we have another appt next week, to follow-up from yesterday. he weighed 11lb 7oz yesterday, the little chunker! not sure where it's all going, as his thighs and cheeks are chubby, but the rest of him is still pretty skinny.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? the spitting up, which had gotten better for a few days once I stopped eating dairy, returned with a vengeance. so that was probably coincidence. he's been SO uncomfortable through feedings, and spitting up copiously and forcefully. we went to the pedi yesterday, she thinks he does have reflux (i think christine had said it might be reflux too?) so we started zantac last night. hope it helps.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? we're planning for 2...maybe 3 (ask me again after #2!). I surprised myself near the end of my pg by asking MH if he would consider 3 - we had always agreed on 2. but he's open to it too. we'll try to keep them 2-3 years apart.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? nothing
does hauling a baby up and down the stairs constantly count? but I was really lucky - I only gained 17 lb total, and it was all in my belly and boobs. i was back to my pre-pg weight by 3.5 weeks pp. that's not to say i'm in shape though!
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? we reacted to the stress of being in the NICU very differently - he kept analyzing the possible setbacks, I clung to and celebrated the good news. I found his doom and gloom to be very frustrating, and he found my optimism unrealistic (and probably annoying). we talked a lot about what we each needed, and tried to understand that we were each dealing the best we could. oh wait. just reread the question. hrm...biggest change is probably that we feel like we never see each other. we seem to rarely be awake at the same time
again, we talk about it, and try to spend more time together, especially when E is sleeping. we also took our first outing together as a family on sunday - nothing fancy, we just went to the mall and ate lunch, then went to target. heh. but it was nice to get out of the house together, and for MH and me to sit down and eat a meal together.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? hrm, not sure...can't think of anything yet
YAY!!!
isn't it the most amazing thing? you'll be able to hear it in a few weeks too!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 6 months 3 weeks
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? we have an army style crawler right now he just can't get the regular crawl down.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Just his 9 mon appt
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? trying to change a diaper on a baby the insists he needs to be on his belly so he can scoot away...I am getting good at putting a diaper on backwards
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? never MH already has 3 teenage kids so one was our limit
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? I need to be doing something but I have not been able to find time. Since he was born in the summer I had planned to walk everyday with him while I was off work but we had a riduculously HOT summer here and he would get too hot when I tried and then I returned to work and want to spend all my extra time with him
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? Just trying to find time for us.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? we started rice cereal at 7 weeks and then started food & juice at 4 months.
This happened to me too, I thought I was 2 weeks ahead of what I was really measuring as...it was such a debachle for me the first few months. YAY on the heartbeat, it's such a great feeling
:)

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 8 months, 1 week
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? They let us sleep in a half hour this morning so I'm feeling pretty good! Milestones - Dash just cut two more teeth at the same time (bringing the grand total to 4) and Will is pretty close to cutting the same teeth.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Nothing
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Constipation.
Will has been SO constipated, no matter what we do/don't feed him (he's drinking plenty of fluids so that's not the problem). I think someone once said that their LO always gets constipated right before cutting a tooth, and he has two on the way, so maybe that's the issue?
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? Never. Ever. EVER. Lol we're sooooo done.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? Ummm...*cough*...nothing.
That's SO bad, I know - and I definitely have weight to lose (I'm about the same size as I was pre-pregnancy, maybe a little more, but I was overweight to begin with and still have a big ole saggy baggy stomach). I take the boys on walks, but that's about it. I REALLY need to get into a weight loss routine.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? I would say...sleep deprivation. Being a first time parent is a tough deal to begin with, and then you throw in pure exhaustion on top of that and it makes it even tougher. We didn't really fight, but there were certainly times when we were unnecessarily snippy at each other just because we were so unbelievably tired. As to how we dealt with it, communication was absolutely key. In our moments of slightly less tiredness, we'd reaffirm that we loved each other, that this was temporary, and that anything said in times of extreme tiredness was given a pass (no grudges held).
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? We started food a bit early - 5 months instead of 6. And of course, the whole formula thing. Those are probably the biggies.
(9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Is there anything you've done with your LO that you didn't expect/plan to do (e.g., co-sleeping, CIO, etc.)? Be honest - do you ever secretly worry about your LO meeting milestones on time?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10mo+
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Jack can toddle along really well now, I quit counting steps once he could make it from one room to the next. He prefers to walk first then crawl only if he falls, so I guess I would call him a full fledge walker these days.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? n/a
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Stinky cloth diapers. Ugh.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? Meh, not sure. A few years from now.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? I still have a (long) ways to go but I always focus on eating well because that doesn?t really take time away from something else and then secondary is going to the gym as often as possible (I like fitness classes) but that isn?t as much as I would like.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? Like Lisa, I think we snapped at each other more than ever before because we were both tired. It didn?t get out of control and we always took time to say sorry or rationally explain our grievance in a moment of clear headedness.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? Hmm, starting with table foods (rather than purees) worked really well for J. Also co-sleeping for 6mo+ worked very well for us.
(9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
oh yes, definitely this too, exactly.
and as for question #8, I guess CDing and co-sleeping - though I really don't feel like those are against popular opinion - guess it depends on whose opinions you're asking!
might be different if we lived in a different city. though, my coworkers and some of my extended family were all naysayers about CDing, but my mom and my friends were all very supportive or neutral about it.
Ugh, I'm so sorry it's this bad.
I don't know if it will help, but the only - ONLY - thing that helped my m/s was sour candy. Ginger and all of those other remedies only made me feel sicker, but really really sour candy did the trick. Ben found this candy in Melbourne that was so sour that my mouth actually hurt after a few pieces, but I felt so nauseated all the time that it was worth it.
Also, have you talked to your doctor about it? If it's really severe, you might be in danger of having low fluid levels and you may need to be put on meds. (Who was it here that ended up in the hospital? My brain is failing me right now...)
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? a little over 5 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Tired! I adore Christmas, but it wore me out this year. I guess you can chalk it up to the Henry's crabbiness due to the chaos.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next month
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Crankiness. My guess is it's due to 2 factors: teething and the chaos of the holidays. For the teething, the clues are that he's drooling like mad (more than usual, seriously, his shirt is constantly soaked) and he bites down on your finger so hard that it hurts even though it's just gums. And while he was an angel when we were home in WI, when we returned he's had a couple of rough days. I think just the craziness of having his schedule off so much for a few days took a toll on him. He was a little better today, I hope tomorrow's even better!
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? We're thinking maybe when Henry's around 2 or close to it we'll start trying again. That'll probably be it, though. I originally thought we might think about 3, but a) I adore my little boy, but this is hard! and b) I'll be too old (in my opinion). As it is I'll probably be 35-36 for the second, I don't want to be 40 for a third.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? Not much yet, honestly. We did buy an elliptical right before he was born, since I knew I'd probably never get to the gym again for years, but as it is I only get about 2 hours with Henry each evening....I don't want to spend them working out while he plays alone. I do need to get back on the wagon about eating well, though. It's just so hard when time is limited.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? I feel like we hardly see each other anymore. He often works late and on weekends, and then I need to go to bed seeing as I'm the one who gets up in the middle of the night. That, and the resentment. We've discussed this several times, but I do still feel like I'm the one who does all the baby stuff (getting up in the night, making sure feedings and napping happens, etc.) He's gotten a little better (I think it helps that Henry is more interactive now, therefore more fun for daddy), but it does put a strain on things sometimes.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? We started cereal at 4 months and veggies at 4.5 I wasn't planning on it at all, but if you saw how this kid eats, you'd probably have done the same! :P
1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 22w 7d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I can see my belly move now! I didn't realize that happened so early.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I go for an US on Thursday to look at baby's heart and to measure my cervix.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Figuring out what we're going to do for child care is starting to stress me out.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? I would be happy with one kid. DH wants three. I said maybe we'd compromise with two. If things go well--no scary complications or PTL--we probably won't wait too long to try for #2.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? Ugh. I'm already dreading that part.
{planning bio} {married bio} {baby blog}
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?A bit overwhelmed from the holidays. I felt like Christmas passed me by so quickly and it was hectic the day-of. I barely even listened to any Christmas carols, which I usually do for months leading up to the holidays =/ Was just too busy with work and stuff.Milestones-wise, he took his first assisted step on his own today! He pulled himself up on the table with our large turtle tank (he's been pulling up in his crib for a while now and it's the first time he's done it with a low table) and then because he's trying to follow the turtle, he ended up holding on to the edge while trying to take steps. Of course, after a step or two, he falls and cries because he'll catch a bit on the edge of the table on the way down but it doesn't stop him from trying again! But I also figured out why they don't make much 12mo+ footed pajamas for LOs--because it gets in the way of their walking!!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?9mo
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?Naps! He's down to 20-min naps and we can't seem to get it go to longer...
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby?sometime next year...
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? HA...nothing other than lifting LO from crib to changing table to floor to play or to nurse =P Oh and buying groceries (lifting those Costco bags of dog food is a lot of work!). I even take the elevator to go from the lobby (1st floor) to the 2nd floor (where I work)...so sad =P Like lelekay, we have an elliptical, but no room for it in our rental (where we live) so it's stuck in the basement (still new in the box) of our house in another state.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it?Immediately after, it was challenging because of my baby blues and lack of sleep. It got better with time and also talking through some of the issues we were having due to those factors. Now it's just the lack of time to do things like date nights. We've done one or two so far but it's hard to do more...we still have to deal with that one somehow...
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family?Hm, well, I hadn't planned to cosleep and when we did, we also ended up doing it much longer than I had originally planned to (~5 months...and we still cosleep on some days =P). Also, I don't pump very often at work--but instead, I drive home to nurse and then drive back =P but it's only because we live so close that it's faster for me to nurse then to pump. Although, I'm starting to pump once at work now (in a 8-hr day) and then drive back and forth to nurse twice because the grandmothers enjoy feeding him so I let them have their fun

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
feeling very hormonal. tired. heavy. can't see my feet anymore when i look down.
had a check up this week and my follow-up u/s today. i still have the cpp which puts us closer and closer to a feb. scheduled csection. will have to consult dr. once official results are released.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
i'm seeing the dr. every 2 weeks now because i'm in the 3rd tri. will most likely have another f/u u/s in about 4 weeks to check the cpp again. shower is next week 'cause the ILs are going to be in the pinas for about 2 months. so basically, they will be back with LC is here i think.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
doing chores and trying to relax. and control my mood swings/pregnancy rage.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby?
we'll ask that after i get a chance to recover from this pregnancy!
((9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? did you have pregnancy mood swings? what kinds of things would trigger it? how did you cope?
hawaii 10.2008 plan ;P married bio ???
I think that's me and kinibruin. I ended up having to go in 3 times a week for a couple of weeks until I was able to at least hold fluids on my own. That and going on Zofran to physically be able to do it. I think kinibruin went through the same.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Feeling pretty good. I've noticed more BH contrax, and maybe a few stronger ones, but nothing consistent yet. At my 37 week appt, I was still 1 cm dialated, but baby does feel like she's moved down a bit because I've gotten some of my appetite back. I did end up testing positive for GBS, so I'll have to have the antibiotics while in labor. Also, that kinda puts a wrench in my plan to wait as long as possible before rushing to the hospital. Darn it!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?Next Tues (1/4) for weekly appt. Also she scheduled me for a surprise u/s to check the size of baby. I'm really curious to see how big she might be, because EVERYONE comments on how small I am, and I've only gained about 22 lbs.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?More PR challenge, but just trying to mentally prepare myself for labor and delivery. On the one hand, I can't wait to see and hold my baby girl, but on the other, I don't mind her hanging out in the womb a little longer. I think the anticipation of going into labor is the worst. Once it's happening, I think I'll be fine.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby?Well, I know we would like to have our kids at least 2 years apart, so we have a while. Ultimately, I want 3 kids, and DH is firm on 2. I guess it will depend how the 1st goes, and then what we end up with on the 2nd. I imagine if we have 2 girls, DH might be open to trying for a boy for #3. I'm an only child, so I definitely want a bigger family.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape?I can't wait to have my body back, esp my tummy! My stomach has always been the smallest part of my body, so I really miss my shape. I did get a Belly Bandit that I'm going to try after birth. We also got the XBOX Kinect for Christmas, and I plan on doing the workouts on there in the house while on my leave (and after I'm cleared to exercise again). Since I haven't gained that much weight, I'm hoping it will be easy to get off. I guess we'll just have to see!
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it?This is another thing that I wonder about. We try and discuss now about how we might be after the baby is in the picture. I'm hoping if we set some boundaries and code words with each other before then, we can be a bit prepared for any changes within our relationship. Again, things always change when put into practice, but I'm hoping that we can remain kind to each other.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? Not sure how everything is going to work, but I'm really hoping to quiet down the CD-naysayers. It's funny to me that people who don't even CD want to call it out as being more difficult. I say, don't knock it til you try it. And I'm hoping DH really gets on board to help dispell the negative comments.
(9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
I was GBS+ too, and felt the same way - I really wanted to go to the hospital as late as possible. turns out, I went in for my 38 week appt, and didn't leave - I was already 4cm, so my midwife had me walk around for an hour, and I checked in to L&D when I could no longer walk/talk through the contractions. it's not too bad, just a 15 min (iirc) IV every few hours, you're not hooked up to it constantly. it will be okay
and yeah, I only gained 17lb, but E was 7lb 6oz! I expected him to be under 7, but you never know!
good luck! I'm sure you'll do great. oh, and I meant to respond to lori's(?) post a while back - i love your blog, and your nursery! I'm so impressed with how much thought and work you've put into it, it looks amazing!!
Wow, I can't believe you only gained 17, but I remember when we GTG, you still looked super skinny--all you gained in weight was pretty much just the baby! I gained over twice that--40lbs and that was after I had lost 10+ =P I think part of it was that I was so scared that all the weight I lost in the beginning would affect the baby so I tried to make up for it and I was eating like crazy when I could finally eat too because I missed it so much!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
11 months old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
PPAF finally arrived after 20+ months...I was one day shy of going ALL of 2010 without AF!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
1st birthday next month...planning a little party with a bumble bee theme. She'll see the pedi for her 12 month check up too.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Wakefulness...again...probably due to teething and/or developmental strides.
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby?
I am startng to chart since we'll TTC#2 this summer.
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape?
BFing! I've lost 55 lbs. since delivering Libby.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it?
Alone time together. Still a work in progress since our work schedules have us going in opposite directions. We do date nights, but not as often as either of us would like.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family?
Bedsharing....ECing (part-time)...BLW...extended BFing....
(9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 13 months, 3 weeks?
(2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? he's figuring out how to walk over stuff now - like he used to stop at a gate (when it's open), drop to his knees, and crawl over it, but now he'll stop, grab the side part and step over it. He's getting better every day!
(3) Next appointment date? sometime in Feb for the 15 mon checkup.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? the outburst at the restaurant! and praying that he didn't get as sick as we did!
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby? we talk about it, but have pretty much decided the risks are too great, so we'll just have our beautiful little boy!
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape? isn't round a shape? seriously, I still haven't done anything - I lost about 30 lbs the first 2 weeks from BF/pumping and not eating/having much of an appetite, but gained about 10 back. So, I'm where I was before I was pg, but that's still overweight.
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it? we had a couple of talks b/c he doesn't always feel like I appreciate how hard it is to stay home with LO, esp when I was recovering from the c/s, he was doing SO much b/c i couldn't go up/down the steps more than a couple times/day.
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family? bedsharing
That's crazy! I have my 38 week appt tomorrow, I think I would be shocked if they admitted me! But I guess I'll have a better idea of her size tomorrow, so we will see.
And thanks for the blog props! I totally preoccupied myself with nursery stuff as soon as I found out we were having a girl. I had the same kind of plan for a boy, just different fabrics and art, so it was fun to execute the look I was going for. I have to say DH would make fun of me for not wanting it to be too babyish or too girly, but we have received nothing but compliments on how modern and chic it looks, I think he finally gets it! haha...some men just can't visualize!
i find it totally interesting that even though the roles are reversed with you at work and DH staying at home, the same feelings of the person staying at home feeling under-appreciated remain....

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
she is 9 days shy of 14 months now
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
she has a new word - apple
boy does she love her apples!
she also says "oval" b/c she has a book w/shapes but i don't think she actually knows what an oval is; she just points to the page w/the oval
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
i have an appt early next month for my annual exam/pap - will talk to my ob/gyn then about BC, esp given our latest "scare"
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
dealing w/the cold she got from Santa - she still has a runny/stuffy nose and on top of her hating the aspirator, she has a rash around her mouth from the runny nose and from the drool from teething
(5) When do you think you'll be ready (if ever) to TTC the next baby?
this has been on my mind a lot lately and the answer is that i am not sure if we'll have another one
(6) What are you doing to get back into shape?
nothing except BFing and really that just helped me lose weight it did not help me get back into shape
(7) What was the most challenging change to your relationship with your husband after the arrival of your LO? And how did you deal with it?
not having him around most of the time due to his work/training. he wasn't very involved and that led to a lot of resentment. it's gotten a little bit better w/time & communication but it's still a big issue we're constantly working on
(8) Was there anything that you did against popular opinion that worked for your family?
I guess CDing if you consider that against popular opinion - seems more and more mainstreams these days
ECing and extended BFing - never thought i'd BF beyond 1 year
