I hate shots =(

Today was Addie's two month shots. I know these posts are common, but it was just so heartbreaking seeing her face go from happily smiling and cooing at me to screaming and writhing in pain. I'm so glad the pedi told me to take as long as we needed after the shots so I could BF in the room. She conked out a few minutes later but it still sucked.

I also have blood on the neck of my shirt. How the heck did it get way up there?

    OH NO!! We have our 2 month appt next week and I am not looking forward to this! Nothing like this ever bothered me before I became a mom and it kills me to have something done that hurts her even thougt I know she needs it!

    Just remember that they WON'T remember! It was hard to see my son cry real tears for the first time, but they stop crying after a minute or two of cuddling. Just keep the Infant Tylenol on hand -- DS did fine without it for about 3 hours but when he woke up from his nap he was NOT a happy camper. If I had to do it over again, I'd give him the Tylenol in advance of the shots to take some of the sting away, and then keep loading it up for the next 24 hours or so. 

    FWIW, my DS was kind of funky for a few days after the shots. The second or third night he didn't sleep a wink and he wasn't eating as much but from what I understand that's not uncommon.

    I HATED the shots also - and the billirubin test she had done 3 times in the first week (jaundice)!!!  After the shots my pedi said we could take our time also, and DH and I were taking turns consoling her.  Her entire body turned red with her screaming!!!!  It was heartbreaking!  I apologized to her for hours...

    This was me with the billirubin test in her heal...the first tech obviously did not have experience with infants, so it was a prolongued process, and I just bawled - and was still teary awhile after LO had stopped crying and went to sleep!

    I finally have a second to come back to the post! I'm on my phone so it's hard to type much but I wanted to say she's doing a lit better now than I imagined. I had read nightmares about the shots completely changing babies so I was scared. She woke up after the Tylenol nap super happy and full of smiles. I'm babying her even more than usual today as if that's possible. I think she just might get through this unscathed. Wink

    It's horrible knowing you're the reason they're in pain even though it's for the best. I've been meaning to tell you how absolutely precious your DD is!!!
