Talk to me about nursing tanks...

I'm looking online at Target's selection and I show there's side sling and full sling.

What's the difference? What do you prefer? What are your favorite brands of nursing tanks (from Target or elsewhere)?

I'm thinking about ordering some now for sleeping and figure I'll spend most of my maternity leave (and possibly after) in them (if nursing works for Baby C and I).

TIA!

  • I am 99% sure that the full sling are the ones that have the little slit that you are supposed to be able to stick your boob through and the side sling are the the ones with the piece of fabric that runs under your boob but doesn't have anything that runs over it.  I hated full sling with a burning passion because the material would get all wiggled around and my boob wouldn't go through right.

I loved the Target side sling.  I think I have 10 of them in all different colors because I used them under my work clothes so that I could be a little more modest when pumping in my office instead of sitting there completely topless.

  • I never tried the side sling b/c I liked my full sling ones which I picked up after Mel told us they were on clearance.  I felt supported in them, and I was a D before pregnancy and a DD afterward.  I didn't like the glamour mom ones as much as I liked the target gilligan & o'malley ones.  I lived in them all summer after Josie was born.

  • I picked up two white ones at Target, the Gilligan & O'Malley ones, and they are full swing.  It's all they had but to be honest I had no idea which would be better anyway.  I just wanted to make sure I had something for the hospital.  I have heard great things about them though!

  • I've only ever used the side-sling type (boob thong - haha) from Target. I love them! I still wear them every single day instead of nursing bras. I have big boobs (think I'm an E/F right now) and wear the size large tanks, just to give you an idea.

My only complaint about the side-sling style is that the fabric that goes over/inbetween my boobs sometimes rides up and looks dorky but I think that is because the size of my boobs. I'm not willing to go up a size in the tank because, IMO they fit loosely around the waist and the bigger size bunches up under my shirts.

I haven't tried any other tank, so my opinion is biased but I am happy with the G&M tanks. I'm actually planning on buying a few more to add to the rotation because my white one just bit the dust after being worn 2x/week for five and a half months. Eeps!
