Re: ~*~DE/DEmbryo/GC Check-in~*~
Wow JM1977 - you get up early! I'm thinking about you today and hoping the best for your beta!
I've been out of town and internetless for a week and happy to be back and catching up.
Hugs to erinandbrockv and may2806
GL to Hollymichael I think our ET's will be close!
Congratulations to SunMoon&Stars!
Update: Started Lupron on Christmas and so far I don't feel too bad. Endo biopsy today and hoping that might speed up AFs arrival so we can move on to the estrogen and I guess once we know CD 1 - we set the date for everything else.
QOTD: I was actually interested in DEs for our first IVF b/c I'm 40 and the DE success rates are so much better. DH wanted to try on our own first but PGD results showed all our embies abnormal - so there really wasn't a choice.
I hope this isn't too much of an overshare but I have two teenage boys and their biological father is just absent. My dh (their step dad) stepped in an does what needs to be done for them. Biology just didn't make their Dad a parent and biology doesn't keep my dh from being their parent - it's showing up for the job...so anyway I guess I"m trying to say I was never hung up on the biology. We're just ready to have a baby any way because we want to be parents together.
I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Must be nerves!

TTC#2 FET Jan 2013 - Transferred 1 - BFP!
Ahh the 2ww is almost over! We go in for beta first thing tomorrow morning!! I have POAS and the last 3 days have been +
I am still so scared for tomorrow! Please send me any PPV you may have!
We knew we would need DE early on. We knew there was little to no chance my ovaries would work at all when this time came because if their minimal functioning while I was growing up. So, my DH and I kind of always expected this.
I am curious, why did they recommend an endo biopsy? Is that something your RE always does? Whenever I see anyone doing something different, I worry and wonder if I should be doing that too!
Update: I can't remember if I posted this in here last week, but, we had an FET scheduled for 12/10 with our one frozen embryo, but, the embryo didn't survive the thaw, which officially ends our infertility journey. I'm really struggling to come to terms with this. I was prepared for a BFN. I wasn't prepared to not even get a shot at #2. After such a long and arduous journey, for it to end with barely a fizzle just feels really incomplete.
QOTD: My journey to being "ready" was a long one. After our 3rd failed IVF, we were counseled to move on to DE. I went for a second opinion and was basically told the same thing, so, we decided to do it. We went through the testing and officially put ourselves on our clinic's DE waitlist, which was running 6-8 months, so, we and our RE agreed we would continue cycling. We did and IUI and then an IVF, and, I got pregnant, but m/c at 7 weeks. But, this gave me hope again for my eggs, so, we decided to pull from the waitlist and keep cycling. I did another IVF, BFN, and then moved to another clinic (in NYC), where I did 2 more failed IVF's. At this point, I had a phone consult with a 4th clinic, the big one in Colorado, where I was told that I had done everything that could be done, every protocol they have, and I should move on to DE. That's when I knew I was ready! Once I knew I had done everything that I could, I was ready. The day after that phone call, I called and reinstated us to the waitlist at our original clinic, was matched a couple of weeks later, and cycled 6 weeks later!
Good luck today! I hope you get a great number!!!
Congratulations!
I am curious about your siggy. It mentions your lining never being in the right phase and then you switched REs. Did the new RE think it didn't matter? Everytime I see your siggy, I mean to ask you about it.
Good luck Jcath! I am happy to hear we will be going through this together. It looks like kdussault & may2806 will be cycling in Jan. too. Let's go four for four ladies!!
Congrats to sunmoon, JM, & sara!!
Update: The start of lupron got pushed back to tomorrow. Bring on the lupron headaches. Otherwise, schedule is still the same with ER estimated for 1/21. I decided to go back to acupuncture too. Not so much because I think it helps physically, but it calms me down and really helps me mentally. I am so nervous, much more nervous for this cycle than my OE cycles.
QOTW: Although DE was always in my mind given my age, I wanted to give my OE a chance first. My FSH and AMH were only borderline bad so we thought my OE might still work. After going through two complete IVF cycles with my eggs, we were both ready to move on.
Hugs to erinandbrockv and may2806
GL to Hollymichael I think our ET's will be close!
Congratulations to SunMoon&Stars!
UPDATE: I am on Lupron for IVF #2 (OE) and I take my last BCP Thurs.
QOTD: I think I made peace about using DE or a Surrogate if I had to after my 4th loss (2 c/p's & 2 m/c's) I have been humbled by this experience and I realize at the end of the day the most important thing is becoming a parent. At this point I am just giving my OE's a chance but after this IVF and the FET's that come with them I would have no problem moving on to DE.
IVF#1: start stims 1/26; ER 2/8; ET 2/13= BFN; FET#1: May 2010= m/c *NEW CLINIC Jan 2011* IVF#2: start stims 1/12; ER 1/22; ET 1/27= BFN; IVF#3: TBD
~SAIFW/PAIFW~
Congrats Saratoga, JM1977, SunMoon&Stars and BathinginBitter!!!!
Hugs to everyone who needs them!
Lots of good luck to those getting ready to cycle! I'm so excited to follow all of you!
QOTD: Unfortunately, I would say the fact that insurance ran out and we were OOP helped make the decision easier to move onto DE. To spend that large amount of money on a cycle with my OE again after 3 failed IVF's just didn't make sense. While it was a tough pill to swallow, especially since I was only 30 at the time, its the best decision we've ever made.
Update: Holy crap, I'm 10 weeks! We had an u/s on Friday and saw both babies moving around and waving their arms. It was amazing! We have our NT scan on 1/12.
Update on me: Got a BFN on our FET. I think it stuck early and then fizzled out given the symptoms I had. We have 2 frosties left and I don't want to waste them. My confidence in my RE is waning. I made an appt. for a second opinion at another clinic. I also ordered a book on adoption. I don't know what to do at this point. DE is supposed to be the "answer" and it's stopped working.
QOTD: Ran out of insurance coverage & wanted to maximize our chances. The decision was easy, but choosing a donor (twice) was very hard.
IVF#1 Oct 2009 (CCRM) - BFN
IVF#2 March 2010 - Poor response/cancelled
DE IVF#1 Aug 2010 - BFN
DE IVF#2 Dec 2010 - Transferred 1, 2 frozen - BFP!
TTC#2 FET Jan 2013 - Transferred 1 - BFP!
I didn't do it prior to IVF attempt with my OE. My Drs office says their internal stats show improved pregnancy rates when they do it - it's an endometrial scratch biopsy - so they don't remove tissue they just scratched it up. (Yep it hurt) I have a friend on her IVF #4 attempt with OE at a different practice. She asked her Dr who said - it's kind of like vodoo but I'll do it if you want. Who knows....
Congrats JM!!!!!! So exciting and you bring me hope
Update: I finish BCPs this upcoming friday night, I've started Lupron, my donor started Lupron last night. I have b/w on monday and add estrace and asprin Monday night. Donor has b/w and u/s thursday of next week. We are still looking at the week of January 17th as our ER/ET week... so excited!
QOTD: How did I know I was ready... when I was looking into adoption and trying to get my husband to get into it a little more. He simply said he didn't want to adopt. He wanted us to experience pregnancy. I had my reservations, wondering how I would feel about it being linked half to him and not at all to me, but then he said (and I will never forget this) "but you will be carrying the baby and growing the baby with your nutrients and blood supply" - that was it for me, that's all I needed. I was holding an adoption book that I then closed and have not picked up since. I even remember where we were... we had just come out of the tunnel on I-93 in Boston on our way to visit friends. So here we are receiving the most amazing gift from my most amazing friend and I couldn't be more happy about it
Preg Loss Mentioned:
Hi it has been a long time since I posted. I am a long time lurker with a long story. But I am so excited for all the recent BFP and I am sorry for the BFN.
Status Update: After my Fresh Donor IVF that was BFN in April I had to have polyps removed in July. I wanted to get my NKC tested but I decide to do my last FET in Sept. Well it was a BFN again. So I finally got in contact with SIRM and had to go NJ to get the testing done from MD. Could not find a DR to do it here or a lab. My DH and I liked it there but since they use outside donor agency I think the cost would be too much. And of course my NKC came back high at 11.7 however I have heard that 15 is consider high from someone else. Who knows? But everything else is negative. So today I did another consult with another DR here in Md and he does not know why I can't get pregnant now after Preg Loss and M/C. But wants to try Integin Endo Biopsy thing? Has anyone had one and do you know the cost? So basically we are still trying to figure out what to do, maybe even adoption. Sorry this is so long.
QOTD: I never had a problem with Donor Embryos because I am AMA, just wish it wasn't taken so long!!!
Debbie
LBR_NJ: I wanted to say again how sorry I am about your frozen embryo not making it. I was so shocked to see that as well, so I can only imagine how you and your husband must be feeling. I really see you as one of the pioneers of DE in these parts, and you had a huge influence on me. I'm just so sorry that things didn't work out how we hoped they would with your FET.
Update: My beta this morning was good. I had a good cry on the way home from work just thinking about how hard the last few years have been and how thankful I am to hopefully be at a turning point.
QOTD: We have been pretty aggressive in moving through the various treatments. I just wanted to push through and get to the other side. Our insurance paid for meds and monitoring, but the financial issues also played a big role in our decisions. I just didn't want to use up all of our resources trying over and over again with IVF with my own eggs and then have to figure out how to pay for DE.
The women on this board also really helped me to see what a great option DE is, and I felt ready to embrace it. One other think that helped us move on was the fact that our results in previous cycles were always really bad, not just like borderline, but irrefutably horrible. So, in away that made our decisions easier.
IVF#1 Oct 2009 (CCRM) - BFN
IVF#2 March 2010 - Poor response/cancelled
DE IVF#1 Aug 2010 - BFN
DE IVF#2 Dec 2010 - Transferred 1, 2 frozen - BFP!
TTC#2 FET Jan 2013 - Transferred 1 - BFP!
Congrats JM on your BFP!!
Status: Started BCP's Monday & still waiting on the results from the blood work. Hopefully we will get these in about 2 weeks & can do a FET in mid January.
QOTD: We knew going into our 1st IVF that DE would more than likely be what we needed to do b/c my FSH was sky high!! DH struggled w/ it for about 2 hours & that was it! He just wanted me to be happy & for us to have a LO. I think if he were not adopted we would have moved straight to adoption but I wanted to give him some sort of blood relative eventhough that wasn't important to him.
Good luck to everyone!!
