Im 5 weeks pp today. None of my old jeans fit. I want to buy some new ones but I'm not sure if I should wait. I've gained a little weight in my hips and butt (which was needed and I don't want to loose that) buy my stomach has a little pudge still. Do you think my body will continue to loose weight and go back to "normal" more or will it stay this way as long as I don't do anything to make it.WDYT?
Re: PP weight loss question
I think you will continue to lose. 5 weeks is early.
That said I had bought the same jeans I owned in the next size up before I even went into labor so I could have them later lol
11 months
a year later i was still about 10lbs heavier than i was prepg. honestly, i wore my maternity jeans for a LONG time. it took me a year to find jeans that fit comfortably pp. i tried going up a size or two even... and got jeans w/a higher rise to help w/the belly pudge, but they were horribly uncomfortable to me. actually the only pair of jeans i was able to wear comfortably were LEI jeans that are sold at walmart. i never really got back in my old jeans, and now i'm pg again lol.
Do you have a belly band? That might help if they're just tight in the tummy.
I went out and bought a pair of jeans about 5 weeks PP since my maternity pants were all way too big (falling down after 5 minutes) but my own pants were too tight. Having a pair of real pants to wear was good for my self image
I think having a pair of pants that don't make you cringe when you put them on (and aren't sweat/yoga pants) is important.
But if you feel like you're pretty close to having them fit and it's just the button that is a problem, how about the rubber band trick to give you an inch or so of "give."
Honestly, at year out I'm just now the same weight I was pre-baby but my hips/stomach are not the same size and some of my pre-baby pants still don't fit right.

I agree that you will probably still lose some more. I lost the majority of mine the first few weeks but then 3-4 months PP I was down from even before pregnancy. Nursing really took a lot out of me.
But if you need a new pair of jeans to feel good then get them! I had such issues with my body while pregnant and while it was all tightening back up. I say do whatever makes you feel good about your body and what's comfortable of course.
