Blizzard Conditions!

It is awful out here in NJ.  I hope the res of my East Coast friends are safe and dry.

Hopefully Aaron will walk in his new snow boots tomorrow and play in the snow!

Re: Blizzard Conditions!

  • Sooooo... I'm guessing that I shouldn't mention that I went to Walmart today in a tee-shirt and flipflops.

  • LOL!!!

It's too cold for flip flops, IMO.  Currently 23 with a windchill of 7. Brrrr!  And we're getting 12-20 inches of snow. Definitely not the norm for the area.  Last year all the storms stayed just South of us (DC Area and Philadelphia). This is the first storm in a while to hit the NYC metro area.

We live about 40 miles west of NYC and DH commutes via train (our move won't get us closer... just further North) and we're not sure how he'll get in tomorrow. I'm off for the week but would have stayed home regardless.

  • We are 20 miles West of NYC. My H actually had to drive to the hospital and do an emergency case. My oldest got stuck in Randolph (40 miles West of NYC) while visiting her friend. Hopefully they clean the roads in the morning. Jason has already played in the snow, but it wasn't sticky since it was too cold outside.

  • Stay warm and safe friends!
  • Robyn - Is it still snowing? It finally stopped here this morning (It had been snowing since Christmas night). We got 18 inches! It is now gusting to 40 mph though :(

  • Dana,  it stopped snowing here but the wind is insane!  They haven't plowed well here, so DH is still home. He's still deciding whether or not to attempt to go in for half a day.

ateytelb... Randolph isn't too far from where I'm moving. I don't want to give the exact town here, but I probably will only live about 15-20 miles West of you. Fiazo probably lives even closer. One day we'll have to arrange a GTG.

  • Hope you all stay warm and safe!  Have fun playing with your LOs!

On my drive to work, the weather man on the radio was saying a cold front came through here last night so the high today will only be 48.  I had to laugh after seeing the morning news about your blizzard.

  • oh no!  Robyn, be safe, it looks terrible from what I can see on the news....and i'm sure it's much worse than they're reporting.  South Florida has had it's second cold snap already (down to 40 last night and it got down to 33 last time), even though I enjoy a little fresh air, it's mighty chilly for my thin blood.  Hope you guys get better weather soon.

  • OMG that was one INSANE blizzard! Snowing sideways all night. We got at least 20 inches. The wonderful thing was the way the wind was blowing, our driveway was 80% clear, you actually saw the blacktop. Some idiot down the block tried to go out last nite, then tried to do a u turn in our driveway, got stuck, then had to shovel his way out, so that certainly helped my DH out a it.

We went out at 1:00 to plow & shoevel. Even with most of the driveway being clear it took forever. It was higher than my knees. Tuesday is still going to be really cold so I don't know if Sienna is going out ye or maybe Wednesday.

Sounds good! Btw I work in the same town where Fiazo lives, though I am still home on maternity. We live along the same train line that goes into Randolph (Dover), just closer to the City. We ended up getting 2 feet of snow. My H got a couple of emergencies with people who tried to shovel their driveways and ended up in ER. He always gets a few of those after a snow storm. Btw this one was the all-times record in Central Park. Looks like we survived it!
